After so many years, perhaps it is a bit ridiculous to leave this comment, but while I was doing my own review I discovered something that I think you did not know, or at least you did not comment on in the review, and I would like to share: Laura Bow and Gabriel Knight occur in the same continuity! If you look at the Gabriel Knight Tulane College bulletin board enough times, you'll find the news that in a few weeks Laura Bow will be lecturing as the Pulitzer Prize winner. Likewise, in her name the surname "Dorian" also appears, confirming that Laura ends up marrying Steve Dorian. It would be an incredible game where Gabriel Knight and an elderly Laura Bow, like Jessica Fletcher, join forces to solve a mystery!

Me too, it was of the best experiences I had, I was completely observed by the atmosphere and followed the investigation... I never played a game where the story is so woven together with the gameplay and puzzle and yet the puzzles are still so challenging.

One thing I always loved about Gabriel Knight is how clearly influenced it is by the comic books of the time. You can clearly see that influence in the art, the atmosphere and even the plot. A lot of the art looks like it could have been drawn by Bill Sienkiewicz or Dave McKean. The whole thing is reminiscent of comics like Hellblazer (starring John Constantine) or Swamp Thing.

I think you are my spirit animal! However, the Gabriel Knight series stands as one of the most amazing adventure games of all time! By the way, I am living in Berlin right now, and, when I was in Munich, I went to Marienplatz and tried to find the locations of the game (the square, the place were the hunt club was located at and the lawyer's office). And I am planning a trip to Ludwig's castle and, help me God, I will quick the walls just to make sure there isn't any Wagner opera hidden around. And I am also very curious to go to New Orleans to see what's up! Please keep up with your amazing videos!

Now, that I didn't buy it, it haunts me a bit.. As a collector only. The sequels haven't aged well. I've visited real life locations of videogames & films too. When I was in Paris with my girlfriend, we had to visit Rue Jarry because I wanted to see it in real life if it was like in Broken Sword! It wasn't.. It was just some street. I somehow completely missed this game on its original release, despite being a huge adventure and P&C fan. I barely even knew it existed until the 2014 remake. I played that and loved it enormously. Excellent story, characters, locations and especially wonderful soundtrack. From what I gather the remake is fairly faithful - streamlining the interface and greatly improving the art without losing the feel of the original. That said, they did redo most (all?) of the voice acting, so it's certainly not identical. I plan to play the original version sometime so that I have experienced both.

My Favourite Adventure game series. I actually bought a second hand disc version of this when it first came out but the version was bugged so I couldn't get past a certain spot since an area wouldn't unlock, and since the Internet wasn't mainstream yet I had to mail a letter to Sierra about it - then got a letter back asking me to mail them the CD to look at it (they paid for postage) - then they sent me back a full boxed copy of the game minus bug. I also have boxed copies of Two and Three. I even pre-ordered the 20Th Anniversary Edition in hopes it would boost sales to make Gabriel Knight 4.

I recently played with this game, but haven't finished yet. This review pretty much sums up, it's defineately not an easy game, you don't event get text-hints where you have object of interest or not. The dialogues you had with other characters are also recorded by Gabriel to old-school tapes to read back later, but I haven't used them yet. I plan to continue and finish the game, but it's been a while, so it might take some time to get my clues together where I am. (it's the DOS version without voice acting) I give it 4 shot + jäger out of 5.

I'm from New Orleans and I adore this game! It makes going out to parts of the city that I recognize as places in the game fun. Also the Laura Bow easteregg is really neat. It's a game I never get tired of. I haven't played the remake but the very prospect of someone besides Tim Curry voicing Gabriel seems blasphemous. It's also kinda sad that every Gabriel Knight sequel's graphics are underwhelming compared with the first's lovingly pixelated style. I will say though that the stories in 2 & 3 are actually both engaging, especially the 2nd game's even though it sadly wasn't Tim Curry as Gabriel.
