It’s always a pleasure to listen to Bach’s music well interpreted, even if it is not the original composition. Even though some famous musicians have considered them a sort of nonsensical endeavor by Busoni (including Maestro Arrau), Busoni’s transcriptions and adaptations remain very popular among pianists and music lovers. They are romantic versions, if you like, of the original compositions. And why not? I always say that just like in love, anything should be allowed in music. Though I prefer Bach’s original works I find Busoni’s transcriptions and adaptations very interesting. This one in particular. This chaconne is so beautiful. It’s definitely one of Bach’s best compositions. So deep and sincere musical discourse. It's literally a poem. The original violin version was written in memory of Bach's first wife, Maria Barbara Bach. Busoni’s version is pretty challenging. If this is the practice session, we can expect your future performances of this work to be a memorable experience, without doubt… Thanks for sharing this treasure!

Bravo, Gabriela.

Muchas gracias

It inspired me: so I went to the piano and tried like your playing, it’s great how this practice session can be less intimidating

Tbh whenever she plays a few notes I expect her to continue improvising on that even though I know this one is not supposed to be like that.

*Piano teachers:* When you're learning a new piece you should do it slowly at first *Gabriela Montero:* So, like this?

Who says it’s a new piece? She’s practicing run-through doesn’t mean she just started it.
