It's always really cool to listen to different versions of a song and depending on who interprets it it changes its meaning. The One Direction version is fun and careless, Gabrielle Aplin makes it melancholic and dreamy... The different atmospheres also change the meaning of the lyrics and I love that this cover shows this contrast :)

This is so beautiful. I'm not a fan of One Direction, and I wasn't this song either, but listening to this has allowed me to see a whole different side to the track - so beautiful and expressive. I enjoyed it thoroughly despite my apathy toward the original. Very, very impressed Gabrielle. Absolutely stunning - well done. True musician! That's quite a skill.

And I never criticized what he said based on my personal view of the song, and I never made any judgments or came to any conclusions about him. totally agree with you. there are so many good covers out there by true artists. when i hear one direction i see nothing special about them. however, we should take into consideration that the cover(artist)s wouldn't be so popular without the big artist behind them. no one would listen to the covers because it's not the variety people like to hear compared to the original. i hope you get what i mean, my english isn't the best ^^
