Thanks for sharing. A lot of fans don't see what happens behind the scenes before fights. Majority of fighters are never at 100% leading up to fight week. It goes to show how great the elite fighters are to be able to win consistently

I do not know if you ever saw Gabriel's video about going to China to fight when he represented Team Canada? If you want to hear an experience where you think holy crap!!!! It makes this fight experience with Karate Combat seem really - really good. It starts with the flights there (27 hours or more), then sitting in an unheated train station in the middle of the night in winter for hours waiting for a 4 hour train ride instead of being flown directly to the fight venue..... and that is just the start of it all. As a fighter you have to be prepared for some really crummy treatment at times. It is such a shame that Bellator stopped doing Kickboxing events as the President - Scott Coker was a fighter, and he treated everyone so well. Other organizations try to set up the opposing fighters to lose by flights that depart at 4 am, arrive the next day and/or at midnight, crummy hotels, poor food choices available, get off the plane after a 24 hour travel experience and be expected to go direct to a 6 am press conference ... These are all things that have happened to Gabriel over his career. Gabriel's dad - Keith Varga

It's not addiction worries, they don't give Tylenol, aspirin, advil to fighters after a fight due to brain and internal bleeding. If you had a brain bleed or internal organ bleed and your given a pain relive pill that thins blood such as those it would almost certainly complicate things much further. I'm surprised you didn't know this?

Great/strong mindset, Gabriel! I have a question about that. When you have a fight, I understand that you have to do what needs to be done. However, the more injuries you incur, the greater the chances are that you'll shorten your ability to stay healthy and competitive. How do you personally balance risk and reward with your fight/training injuries?

Slightly off topic, but where does this put you in title contention, and how many fights do you have left on the current contract w KC?
@kvarga916417 сағат бұрын
Gabriel does not get to see all his comments, and since he and I just talked about this, I can give you a bit of info. Gabriel has one fight left on his contract. Where he is in relation to a title shot, is unknown right now. The fellow who holds the title was scheduled to fight and had to pull out due to an injury of some sort. Two other guys fought for the interim title. We would imagine the guy who won the interim title and the past champ would be the next title fight in that division. I hope that helps answer some of your question. Gabriel's dad - Keith Varga

@@kvarga9164do you think he'll have to fight skrivers again or might he get the loser of the unification title fight and then a title shot if he wins that?

@kvarga9164 you're a boss for answering comments man 💪🏿
@Adam-b8i2 сағат бұрын
@kvarga9164 Yes it does. I was totally unaware about there needing to be a unification. I didn’t even know there had been an interim bout. But admittedly, I’ve not been following KC as closely as I should I guess. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻

Those Karate Combat fight gloves are kinda ridiculous. It looks like normal mma gloves have more padding than those things.
@trevorhardy354416 сағат бұрын
These are sparring gloves. Every UFC fighter uses them for training… They have more padding than MMA fight gloves. They come in 6-8oz, while MMA fight gloves are 3-4oz

Excited to see you in the lineup for USDC S3. I'd love for another Canadian take the belt like Jeff Chan did in S1. Self-defense is why I train in combat sports, weightlifting, parkour, sprinting/running, first aid, and etc. If you want any recommended reads/authors or books to borrow if you're doing a pseudo fight camp to prepare for USDC just ask. There might also be courses and instructors in Victoria worth recommending that you can take and work with that might help. Hoping my sprained right ankle and strained left foot tendon are healed enough to go back to Unlimited Kickboxing in January. Otherwise, just grappling, solo training, and using your follow-along videos.
