Mike Zambidis with reach disadvantage in possibly every fight he ever had and having so many wins and KO's is just amazing.
@GabrielVargaOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I feel like he may have been someone who walked around 155lbs and cut have cut down to my weight class at 145lbs. That's just a guess though.
@Arkeo363 жыл бұрын
@@GabrielVargaOfficial do you find that most fighters walk substantially heavier than their weight division? Personally I don't know the advantage to this as it's always harder to cut weight than it is to just drill harder and practice skills more leading up to a fight. It seems so much easier to be within 10 or 15 pounds at most from your weight class.
@Hayabusa-lo6bc2 жыл бұрын
Most of his knockouts are punctured by punches .. identical to Mike Tyson less chin but sickles practically the same .. Stuns with the knee and distracts the opponent with kicks but does not finish with them. He's just an amazing boxer with kickboxer skills.

Who is the strongest boxer Buakaw ever faced and how did he fare against him? Or this is a meaningless question in muay Thai/kickboxing, as I don't think kickboxers are really comparable to pure boxers in terms of boxing skills.

I still think the K1 MAX Mike Zambidis VS Chahid Oulad El Hadj fight was one of the best kickboxing fights ever - but hightlights exactly why Buakaw used his strategy against Zambidis: keep out of the middle ground! You need to use all guards I’m 5’6” and use long guard literally all the time as well as Peekaboo, sometimes I may find myself using a shoulder roll or elbow block (Dustin Poirier style) every now and then. Obviously don’t just start the match with your arm extended but having an extended arm to frame or just blind your opponent can help you defend or set up offense

Footwork and gameplan. Buakaw's camp clearly had a gameplan and executed it. As good as a fighter Zambidis is, he and his corner couldn't make adjustments during the fight. They're not used to having to do that I suppose, but you can't just wing it with a fighter like Buakaw.

You have to understand that if someone devoted themselves to one sport, it makes them more proficient than someone who does something else. If a boxer transitions to kickboxing they will have really good hands but will have to adjust. A lot of the techniques in boxing do not work as well under kickboxing rules.
