How true. Basics win fights but it's astonishing that Takeru can withstand that much punishment to the thigh.

Not on the gip, on the bone above the hip next to the pelvis. Icy Mike said it somewhere the exact injury and it is normal to throw up after that. And Gabriel said in the fight It didn't hurt@@nwbdirge1198

The strikes are basic, but the strategies to land them are anything but. We all paint with the same basic colours but some people produce masterpieces. Amazing insight. Thanks Gabriel.

Superlek has a lot of weapons to strikes than Takeru. Very nice simple explanation. Thank you.

this tip actually makes such a huge difference for me. even tho Im tall whenever i spar i always get checked and don't know why my punches dont connect, so much clearer and perfect video dude.

Other people have checked Super Lek repeatedly. I think the problem is more unique to Takeru. I think he got low kicked a lot because he kept coming in to box and not prioritizing checking the low kick. He wanted to win with punches. When your mind is up high, your lower body is undefended.

He also fractured his knee in the 1st round, which might have affected his ability or willingness to check kicks.

I've seen this explanation when discussing evasion in boxing, but I've never seen this stance discussed together with getting off kicks and punches in Muay thai. Thanks for that!

Great points, Gabriel! With regards to the kicks, they're fairly easy to throw, but you also need to remember and focus on pulling the leg back. That's something I struggle with the most and my coach pointed it out many times, during sparring. It's mostly due to a lack of stamina, but still needs to be worked on.

if you strike with the ball of the foot you only have to land it (solidly) ONCE Pretty much anywhere on him that you do so, he'll be disabled and he'll either tap out or the next kick will drop him to the matt.
