Actually, it's not that surprising. Like the OG Cowboy Bebop, Mad Bull 34 and the new Great Pretender, this show belongs to a category of niche anime inspired by the West culture - so it's pretty unpopular. Not to mention, if I remember correctly this is also the first time Crunchyroll does bring a SEINEN anime instead of a SHONEN series (excluding Isekai series such as Re:Zero and Tanya). A different target most of the viewers aren't very familiar with.

@@davidedalterio4979 well I see Odd Taxi getting the Kaiji treatment. Where you just have to get your friends to watch it. the way this show depicts trauma and the resulting endless cycle of self-defeat addicts go through and applying it to a really relatable issue was scary but done really well. it's that hole that you just keep digging yourself deeper in because of the short-term feeling of being in control, or because of a deep-seated feeling of worthlessness. i think this show captured the cycle of addiction and self sabotage really well, and how it leads some people to do drastic things. or maybe im overthinking it :p

@@neonoah3353 self-sabotage is common for those who've experienced trauma and abuse. his dad had the capacity to beat him over his mistake, and i think that abuse tends to fester in someone instead of teaching them any sort of lesson. i feel like since the beginning, he was dissatisfied with his school life, his job, his status and place in the world, and so began an endless defeatist cycle. it's what leads victims of abuse to drug use (and his addiction to gacha is practically the same). i do feel for him, but ofc we don't think about this when it comes to criminals and addicts, people who should be getting help.
@neonoah33533 жыл бұрын
@@maowwmeow i dont think "abuse" is the case here, maybe theres some trauma caused by being scammed (the ideia of revenge/justice by beating ditch 11 on a farm sim gacha), but the fathers "abuse" didnt really incentivise the gacha addiction, he actually didnt even think that "oh, i made a mistake" until he got beaten by his dad, it literally took him more than a month to figure out that he was scammed. Imo, hes just a slow person that only realizes his mistakes after he has done them, more so if someone points it out to him, probably due to a severe disconnect from reality. (the ideia of a eraser hierarchy, the total disregard to the value of money, petty revenge agaisnt someone he doesnt even know or has any ideia if it is the person he thinks it is, the thought of killing someone over a game item, etc...) I would say that thats due to his family/school being very passive on his upbringing.
@MissyMona3 жыл бұрын
@@neonoah3353 Could you not treat what his father did as anything other than abusive? Putting it in quotes like that implies that you don't take it seriously. I play Genshin Impact and I am not addicted to Gacha. I just build characters I have and I did not pay anything. Patience is important.

I've 5 gachas downloaded and 2 of them I actually enjoy playing. Destiny Child and Arknights. Been playing Destiny Child for +2years completely f2p and have no regrets.

Advice based on experience: TRY not to spend money even if you REALLY want the character. Buying the monthly pack is fine if they're a pretty good deal, but directly buying gacha currency gets expensive fast and if close to whale territory. The feeling of getting characters when you've spent money will never compare to when you were f2p. This makes me sound like a lucky pretentious guy, but just roll the gacha and be fine with what you get.
