You absolutely nailed this one, I agree with this video on many levels, a lot of this I have also seen myself firsthand (Especially the toxicity). The game definitely needs to be reworked and the content needs to be looked at. I think the only takeaway of this video is the way TikTok and KZbin handle the content as not even TikTok is really that good at hiding this kind of stuff, you can get away with a lot and I would know, I have seen some stuff on there that definitely needs to be removed. As someone who was a gacha kid between the ages of 11-14, the games weren't really that bad (sure the creator has been accused of doing... questionable things... but the games themselves are harmless in my opinion, from what I know at least) I would probably say the same thing for the fandom, it was really just a bunch of kids with the passion of making stories and making ocs, even if they weren't necessarily good at it lol That was until the fandom started to become infamous for heat videos which would later spawned "Anti gachas", which were kinda like trolls in a way with their only goal was to harass children off of some random dress up game regardless of if they made heat or not. As long as you said something mildly cringy on some random youtube video and people saw that your profile pic was your gacha life oc, you bet your ass you were gonna get bullied for it. This made the gacha users who didn't make heat angry, always making it clear that "not all of us are like that". Kinda dividing the fandom if that makes sense???? I don't know, I haven't been paying attention to the gacha community ever since I was 15 and apprentely it's just filled with pedos and edgelord kids now which does make sense I guess. The reason why I left it was because I was getting tired of harassed by the antis so. Good vid though. Sorry I just wanted to rant...

Former member of the community here , I thankfully never scarred myself with the bad gacha content out there. Honestly, I never really understood why people thought it was so bad and hated how demonized it was. Now I know that many parts of the community, which I didn't engage with, were awful, and that it only got worse because of short form content platforms like tiktok and YT shorts. I still like the game and it's fun imo, but not going back to the community, thank goodness.

another thing about the gacha fan community that i remember seeing was that i am pretty sure there was like, little kids or people around my age (i'm a teenager) were making mocking videos about victim's of serial killers. i've seen it happen with one involving a suicide and the other with junko furuta. it was so disrespectful and the people who made it obviously did it for clicks and views but i think that was the deepest and darkest i've ever gone when it came to the gacha life rabbit hole. but upon seeing content like that, it made me so unbearably angry that they were using victim's as characters in their own 'fantasy' world.

The developer of the game actually tried to stop this from happening. Lunime had to get rid of certain customisation choices, swear-proofing. Also had to "ban" players who created nsfw content physically within the game. He (I want to say) hated the dirty minded part of the fandom. But if you think Gacha Life is bad, then Gacha Club will have you tearing your brains out because Gacha Club has MUCH more accessibility and customisation options then Gacha Life. Thanks, this really needed to be addressed.

No, he made an NSFW channel on gacha studio when there used to be a chat option. I got groomed because of it, in gacha studio chat it's not moderated so alot of adults used it to sexualize kids who chats. Moreover, there's air thrust poses in gacha studio, NPC characters in gacha life mentioned they like “Boku no pico” which is an 18+ anime with incest. His creator persona is dating a 16 year old OC. As someone who's in the community, it has just been getting more and more toxic over the years. It was always riddled with weirdos, but it's even worse now because the people in the fandom who were kids are now becoming edgy teens, and more ppl are making it gross, making the good ppl want to leave (which most have to become art or animation KZbinrs). You now have to scroll past filth to find good videos, or most ppl just stick to a small group of good channels, making it harder for new ppl to join, which, just leaves more weirdos.

Yeah, at least there’s thankfully still a niche kind of content in the gacha community similar to horror, they’re called lore cideos and feature a snippet of plot or storyline of a character. As a gachakid myself i can say that i totally agree with everything you said in this video. I joined this fandom right when it started in 2017 and i guess it was fun for my dumb 7 years old self, yet now that I'm looking back at what the community was i can't say that it changed a lot from what it is now... I mean it did change for the worse but the most popular video idea back then was 'the hated child that became the super magical hybrid princess!1!!!1!!' which included abuse, neglect, bullying and sometimes straight up d e a t h. The community may have improved with the editing but, unfortunately, it became worse and worse until it got as toxic as you were talking about. The thing that differences 2017 from 2023 is the fact that most of the videos were made by ACTUAL children and it was pretty visible: crappy character designs, dumb and definitely not scripted dialogue and bad "editing" if we can call it that. To put it short: (mostly) effortless videos made by children that were just having fun and did not mean any harm. As the community grew tho the game got sadly in the grips of the wrong people that started making *that* tipe of content. Then it got even worse because 'normal' gachakids started giving more and more attention to this problematic content, making it more popular and turning this community into a chaotic fire hazard filled with more inappropriate and problematic videos than there ever had been just because some realized that making this type of media was gonna get them a LOT of attention and, probably, a bunch of MONEY. The tiktok compilations then started to have clickbait thumbnails just to get those nice virtual numbers, gachaheat became more popular than it would have been if people just ignored it and you cannot possibly find an actually talented or just likeable gachatuber without them ending up being problematic (that has happened to me a lot lately). The content that most people are making today makes me feel ashamed to still be part of this community but i can't simply get out of this phase anymore since i find making gacha videos entertaining and fun if i have the motivations. I really wish this community will just get better but i don't really have any hope left for it.

This era of gacha is probably the weirdest one I've seen since I joined. I spent of 4 years of my life in the community and I can whole heartedly agree with this video. Once children, teens, and adults found the one thing that catches other people's attention (that being gacha heat, weird tiktoks, blatantly controversial topics, etc.) they tend to exploit it to the point of making hundreds of videos of it. I definitely don't think that gacha life, club, studio, any game that luni has made should be on a 9 y/o rating, luni himself has drama and I think he officially said that he'd stop working on it (not entirely sure). There are a lot of topics to dive into when it comes to the gacha communities members and itself. (LenTotally, Nehema, Luni, meowbahh, etc.). This video is the more or less the surface of gacha but is a pretty good summary of the entire community currently. It definitely deserves its bad name (but there's always some good). I might very missed my mark but I just woke up 💀

it’s not that there aren’t any good channels anymore, it’s that the smaller channels that have great potential give up before they can get recognition (youtube algorithm nonsense). and for those that do, some of them are awful people or become that way because they’re drunk on fame. it’s not just a Gacha community problem, then… many communities online share the same issues. there are a few great creators out there if you’re willing to look, just don’t assume we’re all bad :)

the 'gacha' part of the title is derived from the japanese 'gachapon,' which are essentially gumball machines, but fancier and they usually contain toys as prizes. this means that the gambling aspect of Gacha Life (and the developers' other gacha titles- and there are a lot) is part of the core design philosophy. i'm not sure the game was actually designed for children, but it certainly is weird that kids are playing a game built specifically around loot boxes.

You just need to look deeper to find the normal people, the Gacha community is the opposite of most other communities. Where in other communities the normal stuff is easy to find and the weird stuff is much harder to find, Gacha is the opposite, you can always find the strange and weird stuff right off the bat and have to do a lot of digging just to find normal people. As a past dare I say famous creator who was on Gachatok and KZbin back in early 2017-2022, the game itself isn’t too bad but the fandom just like many others (bronies, roblox, minecraft, Furrys etc) and I’d just like to say that the buying gems features are rarely used etc, and the creator, luni, actually removed the chat function because of the insane amount of p3d0ph1l1a and er0t1c rp, the creators on tiktok etc are usually more teenager, preteen creators and the fandom itself HATES the people who create “gachaheat” etc whilst I do agree that the fandom is mentally challenged and I’m glad I matured past the point, Gacha life itself isn’t the issue, it’s mainly the fact that a lot of the older creators of Gacha used to be younger creators etc, and as we all know the psychology of children going into preteen/teens usually need an outlet to let out their hormones and that is one of the issues, the game was made more for 10+ users. Also with the old cringy stuff, like the singing battles, it’s usually just 10-12 year olds making cringy stuff etc also most of the creators on KZbin are minors and usually unable to make bank out of these things etc. Gacha life isn’t the issue but the fandom is. One of the main things i disagree with is you mocking the cringy, brainrot things since a lot of that stuff is created by children etc and that’s why it’s cringy and stuff, also a lot of the weird depressed stuff is also preteens and teens (I am guilty of this myself in the past…) but the game is simply a dress up game like dress up Nikki etc or toca life, the issue is that it blew up and stuff Yk? Besides that a lot of the stuff u said is fair enough but a lot of ur points r kinda rude since most of the creators are children.

While I do agree with the video and how it explained different elements clearly, I do feel that you forgot to mention that: - Not everyone in the Gacha Community is like this, there are talented people who do animations for example - Drama in the community is insane… I do commentary focus on Gacha, and it is very tiring, and those kids/teens tend to forgive almost ANYTHING, including racism, gr00ming, etc… It is very worrying - Some countries don’t have KZbin kids/parental controls, which explains the huge upload of young creators replicating what they see - KZbin shorts is broken, it’s worse than TikTok, people abuse the system to grow extremely fast when they are not talented at all… I could say more but the comment might be too long If any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

it's clear not every gacha user is like this. but the fact a majority of those kids that use gacha are under the impression content like gacha heat or whatever the fuck is okay is enough to raise concern. the community is entirely plagued with kids either not mature enough to understand what they're doing is beyond wrong or adults who support this type of behavior who are ultimately in the end just gr00mers. but what gets me more is that instead of other people, who are mature enough to notice this content is wrong, putting the children on the right path and helping them realize the content they're making is harmful, they instead SHAME and make fun of these kids for making such content (aka gacha cringe compilations, etc.). they're kids... the majority of them are below 13... if their parents aren't present to guide the children as to what's right and wrong, don't be a dickhead and maybe AT LEAST push them in the right direction instead of pathetically bullying them.

Something you didn’t mention was the fact that in the mode where you have to talk to NPCs some of them will say references to 9/11 and Yaoi (if you don’t know what that is it’s basically gay 🌽 but it’s anime) and the creator has been speculated to have put a suggestive avatar that resembles his sister in one of his games. As someone who used to be apart of the fandom, it really is disgusting how much terrible stuff there is on the fandom surrounding Gacha Life. Its affected my mental health a lot and i regret ever being in this fandom. I never truly understood Gacha Heat back then and im pretty sure i once made a video which looking back, i think i would rather end myself than have to rewatch it. The creator has tried to stop the gacha heat actually, both in Gacha life and Gacha club, but it clearly isnt enough. P.S. Gacha studio isnt the sequel, its a prequel. Just thought you should know, lol.

I originally got gacha life/club as a joke, mainly because I was aware how hilariously bad and infamous the community was. While I still use it regularly, I only use it for creating either characters that I came up with, or recreations of characters I liked. Besides that, I never took it too seriously since again, I used it ironically. While I and many others can point and laugh at the community all we want, there's no denying kids shouldn't be exposed and/or partaking in stuff like that, and rather should be taught to stay away from that kinda thing assuming their parents are responsible enough. Besides the many, MANY horrors of the gacha community, I dont see the game doing that much harm outside of the gambling part, even then I can only assume most people didnt bother with it since they were too busy with their silly haha dress up stuff. Other then that, pretty solid video, keep it up

to note on the whole gambling/loot box problem: it is *really* concerning that 'Gacha' Life, a game series thats based off a genre of games centred around gambling ( gacha ), does not have a disclaimer, ToS or even an older age requirement to warn a playerbase, most of which is children, or their guardians about the gambling system in the game is hella sketchy. even though, ironically, the gacha system isnt the main draw or likely focus of 'Gacha' Life, having it in there in the first place and exposing vunerable kids to something they shouldnt with no caution is messed up. anyways great video my guy!

I’m a person who’s from the gacha community since 2018-2019. It was never a good fandom or a game. Gacha Studio, which is one of the earlier games of these had very sexual outfits. Not to mention in the “life mode” of gacha life where you can talk to NPCs, there’s many mentions of sexual stuff. Mentions like anime corn and other stuff. The game was never kid friendly in the beginning. It’s mind boggling how it’s presented as a kids game when it’s obviously not. So there’s no excuse for it as some people say “it was a kids game but the fandom ruined it.” That’s bs because it was already sexual from the beginning. The fandom is definitely something else. Because of the character design feature and many other stuff people made it to thing called “heat” which is just- no. The good side is overshadowed. As if there’s a good side. Many big gacha KZbinrs like Hatsumi Rou, Lentotaly have been exposed for doing absolute gr0O0ming sh. There’s also videos where people make fun of dead people (Roro Chan) I’m embarrassed to be in this community, yet for some reason i just can’t leave it despite the fact that I NEVER use it. So many dramas, toxicity, rants. It never stops. The game was never kid friendly. The fandom will never be good. The fandom was always toxic. It’s embarrassing.
