This group always has such high energy. What can you say about the vocals - they harmonize together and they sing separate, each taking a turn. The coordination it takes is miraculous! Also, how talented do you have to be to play matching drum beats and sing at the same time?! The level of sophistication and professionalism is off the charts with all these Japanese bands.

Great band - hugely entertaining - fun energy and skills - what more does one want from a live performance ?

Well, they had two drum kits at this stage because Yuri - the younger drummer with white dress - joined recently then and they were showing to the audience the hand off of the drumming role to her as Hana - the older drummer and vocalist - has been drumming and singing for a long time but they decided that she will come in front with guitar and take a twin vocal with Angelina 1/3 - girl with orange pants. Yes, Hana can play almost any instruments - she is a genius. Yuri's been MIA because she had a maternity leave for a while but has come back recently and is drumming again. Yuri was a former drummer for group Lagoon. Also, Angelina 1/3 was like 17 years old around this concert. Her name has 1/3 because she is (according to them) 1/3 Japanese, and then Filipino and Spanish. Yeah, it's kinda confusing. I really like this band.

When one kit is not enough, when Koga screams while slamming away, everyone get involved in the vocals, Tomo-Zo breaks lose a few times i in solo that's never take away from what goin on around her like some solos. They are so much fun to watch and put a smile on my face every time.

As a musician you really appreciate the talent of this band. I'm trying to imagine getting other musicians together and composing something like this without any ego or drama. I think it says so much about these bands like Gacharic, Nemophila, Band-Maid and Maximum. They're not playing poppy simple unoriginal sh*t.

I was hoping you'd check this one out. This is from my favourite live DVD/BluRay of all time (used to be Rammstein, but the pure joy GS channels never fails to improve my mood). It has insane energy, good sound, the filming and editing is spot on, and I have never seen a band with musicians on this level have so much fun. I recommend Hunting summer or Redline from the same gig if you want to see more. Btw, thanks for the Maximum the Hormone video. Been aware of them for a while, but never really checked them out before that, to my regret. What an awesome band!

What's really amazing about yuri's playing is she's only 148cm ( 4' 10") tall with a slim build. Hana absolutely pops harder, but little yuri is impressive when she comes off her stool for extra leverage, and sometimes it seems like she has an extra arm or two on the cymbal strikes. Different styles, equally impressive.

I just love watching F Choppa play. Her smile is so infectious! :) And those screams/wales are just awesome in this song. I also love seeing a drummer so INTO the song that they come off their seat making hits. THAT'S when you know they are 110% in the pocket. GachaPin is another band I wouldn't necessarily buy their music or listen to regularly but would, without any hesitation, buy a ticket to see them live.

Your exactly right about that infectious smile. These awesome female Japanese bands all seem to have that in common. Their smiles and fun energy is infectious because you can tell it all real. Honestly, I've had crappy days and just put on a playlist with Gacharic, Band Maid, Tokyo Groove, Nemophila playing live and just clear my head and decompress. Watching Juna Serita and Tamu Murata play complex music with pure joy on their faces lifts my spirits....btw don't know if you've heard of Chai. It's another Japanese all-girl band fronted by twins. They're really quirky so it may be an acquired taste but they have live video from Pitchfork festival in 2019 that's petty awesome, especially past midpoint.

I might not listen to them regularly but if they ever come even remotely close to my location you bet I'm going to see them. They always bring the energy and do something a bit zany in each show so seeing them live is definitely something I want to do.

6:07 These are exactly my 3 favorite japanese bands and I'm counting DOLL$BOOX too with Gacha. If you want to hear more of Tomo-Zo solos, you have to listen to DOLL$BOXX. Like Kanami, they are short but sweet. And Tomo-zo has an amazing guitar solo on her song (yes, like Miku with BAND-MAID, she has a solo song from time to time on Gacharic Spin's albums) from Gacha's latest album. But be careful, it's even "cuter" than a Miku song 😅 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hF7UnKSleZ6Gpq8 Thank you Ryan

The only grumble that I have with the current lineup of Gacharic Spin is that Tomo-Zo's solos are too short. We deserve to hear more of the playing than the little nibbles that we hear in many of their songs. Also, if you like this you really owe it to yourself to watch "1st Anniversary Live!" It's a 2-night event at a live house, with the magnificent Armmy as lead singer and front woman, with Koga, Hana (on drums, and on solo piano for one song), and the amazing Tomo-Zo. The video is now available here on KZbin, and the DVD has been available for years. They really rock out, plus it shows some backstage and pre-show antics. To me, this was their best lineup, but then Armmy got sick and was kicked out of the band for being impossible to find for rehearsals and photo shoots. She never mentioned her illness, and when she died a couple of years later (in 2015?), at age 31, there were many regrets in the band. Here's the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZmme2yZi91gma8

There are so many performances labeled high energy, and deservedly so. However, I think we may need a new term for GS stage shows. They are a real work out. I tend to favour their slightly more controlled performances even more, but no doubting this is a heart pumper, fun, with plenty to watch and listen to, and the dual drum kits as a highlight.

Without reading the other comments, I’ll try to just keep this to 3 links. Or 6, whatever. Talent? Same song, but on toy instruments. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqvSqYGNg9N5ptk TomoZo? At first dressed as a witchy pirate girl who was perpetually 17. But when pressed, after 5 years Gacharic, and 4 signed bands, at 26 earth years, she revealed that she is actually a 14 yr old alien (which is 100,000,014 in our solar system, Mai says it, “ichi(1) oku(hundred million) ju(10) yon(4) sai(yrsold)”. Tomoko confirms as much. here in this making-of Sekira liar video. www.KZbin.com/watch?v=5pEN5CVaW1U&t=283s And here is her coming out song, which has imho her 2nd best guitar solo, “Final Na Fantasy”, part3 in her fantasy series. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKTQn2CPirWFjpo Here is what’s known as track(is it 77?), officially “Planet Nicorin’s Commuter Rush”, speaks for itself. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jImkc2tpp5WfmLM And one of my favs, where the teen performers get to sing a bit, Renai Switch, roughly translated as Live Switch, even more loosely as Should I stay or Should I go, Oreo sings about want need love, but the younguns chat “Go Now, it’s My Heart”, and Tomo slays the guitar while standing on her spaceship, then asking the crowd if the dig it… tooo. cute. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5nTioKGes1_Zq8 Ok, lastly, Van Halen eat your heart out, this is the best guitar solo I can lthink of. Doll$Boxx, Merrily High Go Round, earth age 24. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqumiKiCqpJ9p5I Ok, 7 is a luckier number. From this same 2019-Angie-is-17-in-neon-parachute-pants show, she helped them rework their earliest disco tune to be both heavy, and prog, but with sensitive piano, go figure?, but no joke. Same LED gloves that they’ve always used tho, think they bought the trademark or some such… Juicy Beats kzbin.info/www/bejne/poDFoYBjgrOjjM0 And a free bonus tip. Dragonet. Doll$Boxx. As Hana says in English, he “Dominated the ancient world’s wars. His name is Dragonet.”, about the last dragon, who was banished to cry blood from the stars forever. MV or live, can’t go wrong.

If you like GachaPin I really wish you'd give Scandal a look. I think you might enjoy them though the vocals might not be your bag but the song writing and execution from them is awesome and their songs are catchy AF and span from j-poprock to pop punk to 90s alternative to hard rock.... sometimes in one song!

I don't know if you love funny horror/zombie movies, but if you do you HAVE TO watch "Metalca"! This 2013 japanese movie features Gacharic Spin (well, Koga, Hana, Oreo and Tomo-Zo) as main cast (Oreo actually act pretty well) and it's pure fun. No subs but I garantee you won't need them to understand 98% of the action - and it's on YT kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYvEYpd4jJqmbs0

For your next Gacharic Spin, you could do far worse than this live version of Juicy Beats. While I'm not a fan of computer modulation of a singer's voice (and I detest autotune), this is an excellent example of just how well it can be used in a live show. And the thumping beat of the drums and base is awesome. kzbin.info/www/bejne/poDFoYBjgrOjjM0

Hey Ryan. I thought I'd stop by to say hello. I was on the train yesterday, travelling back home after a short vacation in Berlin, and I was listening to something of which I inmediately thought you should check it out. It's Sabaton, have you listened to them yet? They're a Swedish metal band and they sing mostly about heroism in war. A number of years ago, I was in Normandy with my husband and sons and we were visiting some of the historic D-day sites. My oldest son told me he knew some songs about those specific sites and that's how I got to know Sabaton. A few years later, their drummer Hannes Van Dahl married Floor Jansen... This new song is a Christmas song (a bit early, but I loved it) and there are some interesting vocals at the end... (you only get 1 guess 😄) kzbin.info/www/bejne/foHHeZ5-qNF5f7c

There's only one beat, so as long as you can keep time... But I don't get duel drumming. To me it doesn't add much of anything except more pounding. If a single kit is mic'ed right, it should cover all requirements of a song, unless the song is just a showtune. Thx, Ryan!
