Got a set today - pretty much what I've waited for - open backed and wireless was a combination I thought I'd never see in the gaming space. They don't disappoint either - so comfortable and light. Sound much, much better than expected, even without Eq. With a slight tweak they hit the spot perfectly for me. Think it's time to offload some headsets now - the fact that these have done that at £160 is pretty pleasing value wise also :)

I've been using the pc38x for a while now and after seeing your review loved the idea of open back wireless. Bought these, it took 6 attempts to get the headset to have a connection on swarm 2, frustrating in itself but finally got it installed. I copied your eq and they sounded great, very light, very comfy. The issue I then had was listening to music testing on different songs, had the volume on 52% not that loud at all, then out of nowhere the volume shot up to max and made me jump. I think this blew the speakers as now if I listen to anything I can hear a horrible noise that sounds like when you're on the phone to somebody and they're out in the wind. The headset could have been perfect for me but I'm having to send them back now. I'm not sure if this will be common but it worries me that there are a few issues already. Think I'll stick with the trusty pc38x. Thanks for the reviews man I always watch your videos.

I think one thing which hasn't been mentioned is that the microphone is actually detachable. As the microphone quality (according to how it sounds in this video) isn't too great, this should still make an excellent candidate for combination with a wireless modmic. I am currently using a wired Bayerdynamic 990Pro with a Modmic microphone (as I wanted to have consistency with sound in my recordings) and it looks like this would be an excellent replacement (together with switching to a wireless modmic). I specifically look for open back headphones as I want to hear my natural voice when speaking. I also think that it's a huge advantage of not having that fake leather which just disintegrates after a few years. However I am not sure how the material of the rubberbands holding the ear-parts will hold up over the years or if they will become brittle. Ofc there is no way to really test that for you (maybe you got some experience with other TurtleBeach products you could apply here). In any case, thanks a lot for this great review!

This will be perfect for my work from home call center job! I hate that if I want to stand or walk around my apartment while I"m helping someone, I can't because I'm tied down via a cable. These headphones would give me the freedom that I crave! The fact it's open back means I will be able to hear how loud I'm talking and so I can avoid the issue of talking too loud which I have a problem with and it kills my voice! The closed back headphones I own just have such good passive noise cancellation so I sound quieter to myself than I do to the outside world. My ex commented often that I talked loud while working. I love that it has a dongle so that is going to help with lowering the latency. The fact that is saves the setting to the headphones means I can do all the eq stuff on my desktop computer and then just plug this in to my work computer and I don't have to worry about needing that software on my work computer(which they probably wouldn't let me install anyways. That full preset would work really well with my deeper voice. When I get my next paycheck, I am totally buying it through your affiliate link. Thank you so much for the review!

Hey again. I bought the headset now. Thanks again for your review! I can confirm that updating the software is still weird and I needed to unplug the USB sender twice during the process (I had no turtlebeach software before). Furthermore the EQ is completely broken as you mention at 21:00, as the constand wobbling artifact noise makes it unusable. Regarding the volume it's also a bit weird. I had my old setting at 44% in Windows. And I think the software also showed 44% at the start (not 100% sure). I basically increased the volume to 90 /100 to reach my old volume. A few steps up or down already makes a big difference there. Would like to fine tune a bit, but it already sounds pretty good. The microphone does sound terrible (imho even worse than audible in your video). Good enough for teamspeak and whatnot, but not good enough to do any recordings. Will definitely replace (and the good thing is, that it's detachable).

Man... it looked near perfection until you showed the microphone sound. Ouch! I mean I currently use the Corsair HS80 which is probably the best mic (I heard from some people there was better out there... dunno which headphones though). I want to change my Corsair HS80 because the defaul earpads collapsed within 6 weeks and bought some 'Wicked Cushions' to replace them, the sound stage changed drastically and now I sweat big big into those, which wasn't really a problem with the default ones. The batteries also don't last very long. Oh and the clamp force is weak or hurts too much, never was able to get it right. So watching this video was almost directed to me, oh you said all the right thing! But that microphone sound hurts; it is much better with the EQ you did though, but still far from perfect. I just need COMFORT (no sweat please), batteries LONGEVITY and a good mic; would you say these particular headphones would be a match for me, or maybe something else? Would appreciate very much your help on this. Thanks!

got this and yeah that low end frequency issue at lower volumes you were talking about is still there. I hear that around honestly anything under 100 lol. Which basically means you don't have a volume knob at all since you have to leave it at 100 all the time. That's very bad lol I do only notice it when boosting the 32 and 63 HZ frequencies, so something in the bass frequency is just not working right. But you can boost or subtract other stuff fine.

Great review, was waiting for this one. The wheel on the Atlas Air sounds like the one on the Stealth Pro, which I have. It's the single biggest thing I hate about the headset (that it doesn't lock the earcup height on the headband is the other). The wheel is extremely imprecise, and I'm surprised that TB used it with the Atlas Air. On the Stealth Pro, I had to turn it to max, and just use my keyboard to adjust volume. Noob question, Joe or other posters who know: Why can't headphone makers make a headphone that more exactly match the Harmon curve. You've shown that the Audeze Maxwell come the closest, but why can't other manufacturers do this as well?
@briangadsden8413 ай бұрын
I just got these and they sound really good, both for music and gaming. I think as a wireless headset for PS5 they are less suitable because PS5 seems to cuts the volume via USB transmitter by like 50% compared to PC, which already didn't get that loud to begin with. I used the volume boost EQ and also heard that low pulsing noise and couldn't deal with it, so it's just wired right now for PS5 until they fix it.

@GadgetryTech3 ай бұрын
I still prefer this simply because it's more comfortable and has better sound quality. If you are okay with having an open back, it's a relatively easy choice. Regarding the mic, I think it's another firmware bug that needs to be improved to be honest. I have it running at the highest possible sample rate on both the game audio and mic, but the High Bandwidth toggle doesn't seem to change anything on either side. I think if they fix that, it could help. Time will tell!

Edit: see my other post for fixing my popping noise. I’ve had these headphones for 4 days and boy there’s some good and some bad to speak about. The good, music over bluetooth is great. The bad. The wireless 2.4ghz on pc. Theres constant popping noise, its not even usable. Wired is also an issue via iphone or pc. The sound goes in and out when plugged in. Ps5 sounds good with the 3.5mm to the controller. Kind of low volume so some people will not like that. Did not try the wireless 2.4 ghz since i received so much popping noise on pc. Fully updated dongle and headset also tb drivers installed and latest swam2 version. This is my 1st tb product. If it wasnt for the bluetooth and how comfortable this headset is, these would be getting returned. Complete missed opportunity since music listening is really good. I really hope they get their ish together and release a firmware update to fix those issues described. Im calling support to see if they have a fix for these problems.

thanks for the suggestion. I switched to default and didn’t like it. I have to edit my post. After switching back to my preferred eq the bass with treble the popping went away. Not sure if its a restart your computer several times or the fact i swapped local profiles on my pc. It could be burn in too. Not sure. The 2.5 ghz is more detailed and voices sound better. The volume doesn’t hold as high as bluetooth. Bluetooth sounds fuller but less detailed. 2.4 ghz for listening to music is the way to go.

Currently waiting on the stealth 600 review, hopefully they’re good

They are awesome! Better in every way but more quiet than before. It will be my next video

Do we know if there will be a Stealth 700 Gen 3 coming up, or are they putting this Atlas Air in that spot for this year?

Idk if I'll ever buy a pair of turtle beaches again after getting the steel series arctis nova pro tbh

how does this compare to wired audiophile headphones like the DT 900 / 990 etc etc
@woox49303 ай бұрын
Prbly way worse than any beyerdinamic headphone or any audiophile product, but at least you won't need a DAC.

Does Swarm 2 work on Mac? Once again great review, best in the biz!

It does not as of now, sadly.

How did you get your swarm 2 to connect I can’t make it work at all

Hey Joe… the earpads on these seem a little small (55mm high). Are they tapered on the inside, allowing you to “tuck” your ears inside them (think Bose QuietComfort, Cooler Master MH751 etc).

Ive been wanting open back wireless for so long. Are you aware of any other brands coming to market with this Joe?
@GadgetryTech3 ай бұрын
As of now I haven't seen or heard of any other wireless open back in development!

Let's hope it sells well enough so that competitors then proceed to enter the market.

Was looking into open back because can’t stand my ears getting hot. Will these help. Great vid.

The combination of light clamp, cloth pads and being open back will definitely stop the ears from getting spicy

What would you say the amount of passive isolation this headset has over no headset on? I've used a few different open back headphones and they vary as some of them are like 20% of sound block vs 40-60%. I'd expect this to be on the higher side due to what looks like a smaller slot for sound to leak out/in on the sides.

This one is more transparent than many other headphones out there. Hifiman is more open than this, but this seems more open than something like Audeze or EPOS H6 Pro Open.

Thank you for the prompt review/overview of this headset. One topic that wasn't specifically covered is whether or not the volume wheel is functional on console(PS5)? I ask this because my biggest gripe with the original Atlas Aero's was that the volume wheel only worked while using PC. Can you please confirm? Please and thank you.

Volume wheel on the headset works great while connect to PS5. No issues at all
@garethg82263 ай бұрын
@@GadgetryTech That sounds like a problem with Swarm II then if it works flawlessly on PS5. I'm sure a FW update will address that issue.

what would you chose for better sound quality in single player games,audeze maxwell or this one? Thanks..great video

Not sure anything is beating the Maxwell for sound. Other things, maybe
@mitchellnash86283 ай бұрын
Its not beating the Maxwell for sound, but I think its gotten to the point where it doesn't feel like its that much of a compromise in quality. When you add the comfort factor it seems like a good buy

I don't think its greedy to want simultaneous bluetooth. once you have a headset that does it. its hard to go backwards in a tech sense.

Has the low volume issue on these been fixed? If not, is there a firmware update fix planned for the near future?

Enjoy your videos. I have a question, right now I am using a stealth pro. I also have a arctis nova 7p. I want good sound, but my main need is good mic monitoring. I just want my voice to be as loud as everyone else’s in the chat. The stealth pro imo, is not bad, but I wish it was a little louder. I like the nova 7 , but the mic monitoring will randomly pretty much stop working. I really enjoyed that headset when it was working. I’ve only had it about a month, but steel series won’t warranty it because I bought it new off of eBay. I just want to know wich mid to high end headset has the loudest mic monitoring. I have thought about trying the new black shark. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
