yes, HS402 PCB has to be populated as in #118 there are 2 ways to add WiFi thereafter 1) with a ESP32 30pin dev board stack as shown (I will add a short vid in the link folder that illustrates that better) or 2) with PCB v3.0 where no dev board is used...a EPS32 chip is soldered on the PCB if unsure, more explanation can be had on Telegram HScope LOUNGE

Thanks for all your hard work and videos. I finally found my parasitic draw. Used every technique you and every KZbin creator has shared and it was there and then gone again. Intermittent is a word that drives perseverance. 2005 Yukon. Found one obscure forum reference to battery drawdown related to the OnStar system. Although now defunct, the OnStar on the vehicle is "on" when the truck is off. But not continuously drawing the large amp draw. OnStar® Sleep Cycle. Every 9 minutes or so, the system turns on, searches for a signal connects and downloads any outstanding messages or texts. Guess what, it does it for 2 days. And then your battery is dead. Despite the OnStar system being OUB. The truck doesn't know that. The "cel phone" is buried behind the dash and can be unplugged with difficulty. Sadly the system is also part of the entertainment system (DVD player in the roof) and is on that same fuse under the hood. Pulled the INFO fuse and no battery deadness. It has been a fun search but now I am on to the other diagnostics tools and such you have created; coils, starters, fuel pump, etc. Thanks again. I know, shoulda bought a Ford. lol

link in the video description for all info including the STL files this is an "advanced" build...I recommend doing a HS402 build first...to get that part under one's belt also, the ACS712 module which is at the heart of this logger "drifts" a bit...for me. and for the build that was sent to Ivan it settles in less than 5 minutes but some guys are reporting their ACS712 take longer...for you to know before you decide to take this on we're talking 20mA or 30mA or so ... and once settled down if a zero calibration is performed, it will not drift for hours afterwards not a deal breaker in my opinion but I have to mention this new development

I have heard about cars that you have to wait over 2 hours before all the modules go to sleep. I love how accurate this very handy tool is. Would it be possible to develop this tool with a current clamp so you would not need to disconnect the battery? Is some solution possible that uses voltage drop (personally I can not think of one) which eliminates the need for disconnecting the battery?

would be very difficult to build something based on current clamp and keep this accuracy and build cost, IMO
@HelgiThorisson2 жыл бұрын
@@theGADGETSplaylist I see what you mean.
@UnionC77 Жыл бұрын
As an auto tech that has a couple of different current clamps I find they tend to drift a bit too much depending on temperature and the battery voltage of the battery in the clamp to be considered accurate. They are a quick way to verify that there is a current draw but if you want an accurate reading then I find they are less useful. It's possible that a much more expensive clamp may be more accurate and less prone to drift but that would somewhat defeat the purpose of an inexpensive DIY tool.

Wow, I live that already. Now i need to get working esp boards, my last batch had only 1 working of 10
@theGADGETSplaylist2 жыл бұрын
in building this project, I had a ESP32 board fail...started out ok and but then crapped out...not sure why... and it was hard soldered to the PCB! lucky I have that desolder tool...that helped save the day...
@Spelter2 жыл бұрын
@@theGADGETSplaylist These boards are prone to die right ? In these times, it's really no fun to have this stuff dying like that. I have 2 other projects with them and I have bo problem with it, yet.
@theGADGETSplaylist2 жыл бұрын
@@Spelter I've lost count of how many ESP32 WROOM 30pin boards I've used. This was the 1st to die like that. There is a PCB v3.0 where we populate a small PCB with ESP32 chip and supporting components and do away with 30pin board. More than 1 way to skin a cat:)

@@theGADGETSplaylist I ordered a second batch and they worked perfectly. I checked the old ones and everyone had a broken voltage regulator. I may fix them one day.

01:10 SMART ONE! 05:26 Fuse intentionally on the negative clamp: WHY?
@theGADGETSplaylist2 жыл бұрын
fuse placed there performs both duties: 1) limits current draw between NEG post and cable to 5A limit of ACS712 module 2) protects small wiring in project box powering the electronics had I placed the fuse on POS clamp only (2) would have been satisfied

am sorry Larry, I share all build info for free but I do not build these for sale our Telegram HScope LOUNGE has one member trying to build them for sale but is encountering "drift" issues...and another member testing his design based on other than ACS712 module I use which looks promising and he will be a seller once his testing is completed...
