Great review. Especially appreciated the tip about shortening the ceramic mig nozzles. Will just have to figure out just how to cut one down.

I have found small stick inverter is about perfect welder for infrequent use. I bought French made el cheapo Spark 130 welder little over decade ago. It weights under 4 kilos, is extremely portable (and easy to stash away when not in use) and has enough punch for farm use. I have even used it to fix corroded rocker panels and other sheet metal work, not easy nor fast but doable with 1.6mm rods. And the best part is there is ABSOLUTELY NO FEEDING PROBLEMS ever. You dont have to worry about feeder tension or guide tube alignment, just drop a rod in and let it rip. I am never going back to flux core.

I'm a stick guy as well:) even with that big 240v AC welder, I'd do delicate stuff with 1/16" (1.6mm) and 5/64" (2.0mm) rods ... and of coarse when any heavy welding is required, I'll take out that big welder that said, when the flux core side if properly dialed in, it can lay down some really nice welds thanks so much for taking time to write this comment:)

Wow you are very lucky. Looks like a terrific value. I will be looking in to it. 👍 Denis, I hope that’s your name please correct me if I’m wrong. The last time I was in Canada was during my military support time . I was working at Grumman Aerospace on the F-14 flight test program and we took two F14’s up to COLD LAKE CANADIAN AIR FORCE base around thanksgiving in the late 70’s to try and sell the Canadians one heck of a jet fighter and yes it was extremely cold and desolate. Couldn’t work on the aircraft outdoors more than twenty minutes before frostbite would set in. It was a good experience. Your channel is fantastic and great to follow . Artie 👍

I learned how to weld (poorly) on an old flex core machine. I do most of my welding indoors now with a solid core shield gas machine. For outdoor use I have an old generator/ arc welder. I’d like to upgrade to a wire feed flux core machine for outdoor welding.

shield gas doesn't like wind so that's 1 place where flux core has an advantage I really don't weld enough to warrant me stocking shielding gas bottles here take care, Chad:)

@@alexvelicu4505 that's 4sure! lots of UV there...I remember when MIG machines were first introduced in our shop...the old timers who were used to stick level UV soon learned to button up there shirt collars 1 guy was doing some heavy MIG welding on an excavator...laying down on the floor, had not noticed his pant leg had creeped up exposing his shin area...got severe UV burn
