Ollie I don't mean to scare you but I have seen people go in rooms with sub 10% O2 levels and die. AND DIE. Because of N2. I work in Chemical Industry and N2 flushing is the name of the game for a lot of processes. Going into such a chamber is blissful too since brain doesn't go into chaos mode till CO2 levels go up which your tent doesn't have! As we say, when in doubt, take a candle with you. If it dies, you'll too so run away as fast as you can 14% is dangerously close to those levels. Sleep with a HR monitor tab and have it pinged to some loved ones device. As much as I hate the fact that you essentially replaced emma, you still don't have to die for it
@TheChipMcDonald

Yeah, as someone with sleep apnea I definitely do not want my O2 going below 95% - and then all night long??? "I've got more EPO but I feel like a truck ran over me and I can no longer add 2+2".

Recovery improvements IMPROVE your recovery time, so in this regard it is good, however, the adaptations that occur within the muscle to increase performance are 'driven' by mechanisms that cause the pain. By getting rid of the pain the adaptations that occur are SMALLER than if you just deal with the pain... So, if you were riding a stage race and needed to be on good form every day (e.g. say you were Geraint Thomas aiming for the TdF) then icing and compression is good. However, if you were still say Geraint Thomas, but now you're at say Paris Nice and using the race as training then you should avoid icing, compression, etc. for better adaptations.

Hot shower and more importantly, a cold rinse on the legs, has always made a noticeable difference for me through the years....followed by a brief self-massage (I prefer a natural aloe gel...it's unscented, not greasy, and helps with any sunburn you might get in the Summer). Home recovery doesn't get much better, unless you can afford frequent massages...and who can?

Where are these recovery boots? About altitude tents. In several countries - like Italy - they are banned for doping, as not allowed method. I ruptured my liver due to a mtb racing crash. And then bought an altitude ten, cause I thaught this would help me, because the liver is necessary for our blood, and I thaught if this makes it more effective... had an great season finish and won several titles on TT and MTB. What I recognized, you loose weight too, and I slept better too. It also helps with high altitude winter training like ski mountaineering.

The altitude tend does not simulate altitude which has a lower partial pressure of all gases in air (hypobaric). It’s simply creates a hypoxic environment which is not the same. Also the evidence for these device is essentially absent.

I wonder how the extra nitrogen content effects the nitrogen build up in your blood stream. I’m a SCUBA diver and nitrogen in the bloodstream that hasn’t off gassed can limit how long I can go at. given depth.
@gcn
@gcn 4 жыл бұрын
I believe that is because of the pressure holding it into your blood? At sea level/ higher altitude there is less pressure so it isn't an issue? (probably very incorrect, apologies, very open to being corrected)
