Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 vs Motorola Razr 40 Ultra - Which Is Better?

We put the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 against the kind of new Motorola Razr 40 Ultra to see which one is better out of the two. I compare the design, durability, camera, processing performance, and battery life. Both the Z Flip 5 and the Razr 40 Ultra performed really well, however, where they obviously differ is when it comes to the camera performance. Let me know what you prefer and why in the comments.

You haven't talked about the most distinguish thing in RAZR which is usability of the outside screen, seamless continuity of apps between inside screen to outside screen and punch hole design , clearly step up from the zflip 5. flip phones are lifestyle devices so the most important thing is how good looking they are and usability , but you haven't mention single thing about outside displays .

The Motorola razr plus does look nice but Samsung blows Motorolas picture quality outta the water. Also the flip 5 looks more sturdy and better made razr plus looks like it could break easily. I have both and the flip 5 is the winner in my opinion

I'm genuinely impressed with how people can swing these phones open. The hinge feels so tight that I have to use two hands to open it.

Has anyone ever given a thought about the reason why the screen of the Razr 40 ultra is a bit loose might be so that the crease would be less pronounced? Everyone's on the razr's case yet Samsung's crease is extremely annoying besides, the software is one thing that i loathe about Samsung. Personally i think Motorola's iteration of Android is the coolest together with the Pixel. Thanks for the honest review, Gadgetsboy, its concise and straight to the point, however, i cant help it but feel your video was about " how good Samsung is ". You tried hiding your love for samsung but it was obvious 😅

At my carrier store i got the razr ultra for $300 The cress is less you screen is slightly bigger along with battery and charging speed But one thing i like the most is the ultra camera is more flush where the flip is popping out Also i even started playing some switch games on my ultra with 8gb ram no problem

Fun fact, did you know Lenovo bought out Motorola in 2014 which is why Motorola in general build quality is premium even on low end devices that are priced at $300 dollars. Lenovo design language is to provide premium quality at a competitive pricing. The only issue I have with Motorola coming from owning them since 2012 is software updates are none existent compared to Samsung but you get more bang for your buck with Motorola on price point compared to Samsung.

That... is a very fun fact actually. Lenovo laptops are similarly bang for your buck machines, I'd say if Motorola continues to innovate in this vein, price point, feature set etc, I'd say it's a very promising or at least intriguing future for flip phones

Samsung just copied Motorola just to steal sales, and didn't do anything with the software for the outside, plus the Samsung is buggy as heck. older processor and larger battery = battery life, connectivity, software, less crease, charging, screen quality... almost every box goes to the Motorola. You did a good review

Both phones have the pros and cons and honestly, I think the Razr has the Flip 5 beat on looks. However, I've actually used both and I prefer Samsung. There were two factors for me on choosing the Flip over the Razr. One, in my hands at least, the Razr kept slipping when one handing. The Flip's blocky/edgy design gives me more confidence holding the device. Two, the hinge on the Razr feels way too stiff, causing you to use more effort than needed when flipping open and closing with one hand. The Flip's feels so much better and smoother.

​@@erborianrn4599 The edges on the z aren't that bad, in my opinion, since they're rounded, but I can see it's not for everyone. I got the black razr, but I guess the material on the back of the phone also played a part in me losing confidence in one hand usability. For a folding phone, I'd rather not have to constantly think about using two hands when I open it just so that I don't drop the thing lol.

@@sephiroth4543 Yea, in terms of screens, the crease is less apparent on the Razr. For some people this is a deal breaker. For the Flip 5, if you have light behind you and are looking at the phone while viewing something like a dark background or the screen is off, it can be off putting. However, this is only a problem for people if you are actively looking for those imperfections. I'm rarely staring at something that dark for any period of time for me notice. You might even say I've gotten used to it. The Z's screen isn't perfect but, what folding phone is? At least it's bright enough to minimize light reflections for my usage.

Thanks for the Video keep up the great work 👍. I've had my Motorola Razr Plus, (US-Varient) from when it was released. The $5.00 a month new line deal that AT&T offered was to good to pass up. Anyway I haven't had a flip Phone since I was a youngster but the Innovation from that time until now is huge, anyway I'm really enjoying the Razr Plus. I'm thinking about getting the Samsung flip 5 because I do like Samsung's take on Android.there OneUI is very customizable which is something I love. I have quite a few phones from flagships to mid-rangers and Samsung's take on Android is one of my favorites next to Nothing's 2.0 anyway I'll be pulling the trigger on the Samsung Flip 5 next month I'll probably end up keeping them both because like i said I'm really enjoying this Motorola Razr Plus

Better software updates for sammy, Moto can be unreliable. Also, if you own a Galaxy watch you get ECG apps working etc on Sammy. I like Motorola phones, but only cheap ones, I wouldn’t spend say £700 for 40 Ultra, as it is at Amazon currently.

I just got Z flip 5 yesterday, I can say my zflip 5 can last up to 9 hrs (I do gaming for 30 min, outlook, whatsapp, streaming, browsing) similar to my Iphone 13pro but good thing is that zflip 5 can charge to 100% faster than my iphone. 😂

I think the Samsung Z Flip is the better option for most people, sadly it's because of how much market share Samsung has but from a consumer perspective it's so much more worth going into their system. Similar camera, reputable build, consistent software updates, more accessories, insanely great trade in deals or second-hand offers, to the point that you'd be making a mistake to pay MSRP for the Z Flip. I like the Moto's cover screen more, but everything else made the Z Flip 5 a better option for me and most people

Nice video . But unfortunately the Moto is definitely a step behind in the cameras lol no doubt. And in the video. Can see it micro jitters etc . Lol blows the sky out. And to say it has a 32mp front camera mmm really looks washed out. Samy beats it. Better HDR. And iam a pixel 7 user . 😅 All so the Moto has been out a while now. So it's had camera updates etc and that's the best they can do. Pass on that phone Samsung can only get better.

Not entirely sure about the cam comparison. In low light and video the Samsung is leagues ahead. You are taking pictures in good conditions, so you wont find much difference. No comparisons in low light, the Moto is absolutely terrible. I've followed you for a while but you aren't really a credible source of tech reviews - were you paid by Moto?
