One of my favourite inks and this video reminded me to ink something up with it.

It's always a treat when an ink exceeds my expectations, and that was the case with this ink. Just looking at writing samples, I would characterize this ink as very unassuming. However, the minute I started writing with it, I knew this ink review was going to be fun. 😀

I find Herbin and Waterman inks are very, very well behaved in all my fountain pens. In this case, I think the French do it best!

I have no Waterman but my Emeraude de Chivor is a favourite. The German inks are also very good: deAtramentis, Octopus Fluids, Kaweco, Lamy...and of course the English Diamine. 😇🩷🙏🙌

In almost 40 years of fountain pen obsession, I fully share your perception about the uniformly good behavior of Waterman and J. Herbin inks.

my preferred paper is the Midori lightweight in my traveler’s notebook: J Herbin caçao du Brésil puts down a nice crisp line in my Pilot prera which now has an EF nib, but when you come back 5min later it’s definitely spread a little (it’s very even and there’s no feathering but it’s definitely a broader line than it appeared at first which is not great); Pilot Iroshizuku inks act likewise on this paper; it works well on all the other paper in my collection including other Midori paper; thanks for this:)

I guess the Pilot fine nib is enough wider than the EF that any spreading is negligible. I think that's what I like about the Pilot 14k fine nibs - they usually write relatively wet, but aren't sloppy...at least for my size handwriting. 😀
