While the two bands do sound similar, there are differences. MGLA's atmosphere is more nihilistic, while these guys sound more ... post-apocalyptic. MGLA invoke thoughts of black fields and covered in ashes woods, while GAEREA are more in the vein of a nuclear wasteland, as in Mad Max for example. I know it's a weird description, but this is how I feel it :) Both bands are excellent.

MGLA is currently the most overrated Black Metal band out there. Not a statement that denies how good of a band they are but the sudden explosion into the scene with EIF set them on a path to be adored by your average Nihilistic Pleb. MGLA were at their peak with their 3 EPs which I still consider to be among the finest BM releases out there. With hearts towards none further elaborated their style more. Then came EIF which was great but mostly forgettable over time. As in its not an album I yearn to listen to out of the blue because I genuinely want to listen to it. Age of Excuse was a borefest. Nothing memorable there. The problem here is with people like you thinking every band who wears a leather jacket or have their faces covered is somehow equivalent to MGLA. Batushka got the same shit when they came out. Now it's aimed at these guys. If you genuinely believe these guys lack something that's also cool but I'd say you are missing out on a good black metal band in a time where its actually hard to find a decent one unless you're still jerking off to the early 90s bands.

@@mglaza Indeed, UADA are another one of the MGLA "clones", but oddly enough, I enjoy them the most. They have more thrashy and more hammering riffs and their last album is a monster. Never thought that I would hear a BM band which you can dance to :)
