Gaerne GX-1 Motocross Boots

I own the original GX-1 and have had them for almost 3yrs. They are one of the best boots for the money in my opinion. If you plan to keep your gear for more than a year or two, skip the entry level boots and spend a little more on something like these. I bought mine for $199!

I bought a pair of GX1's 3 seasons ago, they are still in great condition. I just trail ride so at 240 bucks its a good deal for foot and ankle support. Now I want the new one's!

I am on my second season with mine and love them. If I have a complaint is they are a little stiff and the toe area seems large and 8 needed to adjust my shifter. These new ones seem to have fixed both those items. Boots are very comfortable, very well made, pretty water proof overall, and have not had one issue with them

would you recommend these boots for supermoto use? primarily road usage but slight off road usage too! absolutely love the look of these boots and the additional ankle protection compared to street boots

I have the original GX1's and yes I highly recommend them for supermoto use, as that's what I ride. Great boot at a great price and they do indeed look great. Infact I love them so much, I've also bought the new GX1's in white.

Though these are MX boots, Can these be used for touring? Might be quite safe, not sure about comfort while riding and short walking around between the rides.

I have tried several pairs of astars tech3 and 5s also fox comp r and instinct as well as forma evo's and all left a open gap as it came up the leg past the gator. I have 19" calves so will these boots not only buckle but also fully incase and protect my leg area as it gets above the gator into the shin guard area or should i be considering other boots? PS I tried all these boots on in shorts so didn't even try tucking in any pants?

For your calf size, I would go with the SG12 from Gaerne. These (GX-1( will have the same problem as the other boots that you've tried on. The SG12 bar far have the largets calf opening of any boot i've worn. I have just over 16 inch calves and wear knee braces and they overlap just fine. That would be my recommendation - chase

The tech 5 is definitely more comfortable and have more flex. But I'd bet the GX-1 will probably last longer. - Chase

Hey guys, I’m big into off-road racing and am looking for a new boot. I’m coming off of a tech 5 and am looking for something a bit stiffer almost like a sg10/12. How will this boot compare? Is it stiffer than tech 5s or tech7s even?

Out of the box this boot is a little stiffer than the tech 5 and tech 7. I don't know how it will feel after it breaks in, but brand new it's definitely a little stiffer. - Chase

Tech 7 and Fox Comp R are booth good for foot peg feel. But If I were you, I'd get a pair of the instincts on closeout. You can get a pair for under $400! Instincts are bar far one of my favorite boots and have the best foot peg feel of any boot that is out there.-Chase
