GAF WIFI attic exhaust fan troubleshooting

it would have been great if you too the mask off so we could hear you. I hate my GAF fans too. The wifi connection is such a pain and it wont work if it is not connected to wifi.

Apologies for this; however, there is insulation dust in the attic and from years of working in toxic environments I get a cough at night that doesn't let me sleep when I expose myself to too much dust.

Hi, How's this fan holding up? I'm considering one for a second home, mainly for the wifi connectivity.

Sorry, I am just responding, i wasnt aware of your message. It ran all winter last year and I don't use it in the summer, I just fired it up to test the new controller gaf had sent me and it worked on first attempt. I think they are great when they work as I spend winters in the south of the country working and it's nice to turn on when there is snow on the roof.

Fyi, this new module just did the same thing the old one did, it's no longer responding, so ill have to crawl back in the attic and trouble shoot this. Not reliable still unfortunately.

Worst mistake I made was these two GAF WiFi fans. Terrible.

I installed a quiet cool AFG SMT ES-3.0 in my house but it’s only Bluetooth. Second home I installed gaf EGV5QCT. Both work as intended but the gaf is WiFi so better features.

Fyi, i ended trying to reset the application but not removing the fan from the app. I didn't want to have to get back in the attic to flip the on and off switch, so I reset the GFI in my bathroom which feeds the fan and it's working again. Keep you posted.

The wifi fan has been a problem for me as well. Have two fans installed. They fans have the IP address so only one will connect! Replacing with the standard controller. Great idea. Lousy execution.

Contact GAF, though there customer service is not consistent they will contact you back. I don't use mine in the summer, but i just turned it on to test and it still works. Make sure you are not connected to a 5G wifi router, your router should have a lower hertz connection hopefully. Sorry for your trouble.
