8:42 I personally think that’s also a care thing. How much do you care about your work? does it look right what you’re doing? even if it wouldn’t matter is that the way you personally want to work or is it maybe better to take the 15 seconds to make sure everything is right an neat and no hustle for the next guy. The guys hiring you tend to pay attention to these things.

there is nothing more unsettling than a upside down tungsten light 😄

Philip cables being run through steel doors without blocking the door open, super dangerous

Very informative. Lots to learn from you. You are great and your videos are providing great knowledge. Please review cheap gear like Godox video lights lineup if possible as guys like me don't have access to expensive gear at this point of time.

I was freaking out more about that tungsten lefty-loose on the tip of that C.

this explains how we killed a new m18 globe a few ways back, we had the lamp rigged 90 degrees down into a hole in a cave we were shooting in, and after like 5 hours it just broke. always wondered how that happened, thanks! another point, dont put fresnel lights upside down into stands period, the downward force can actually lead to the globe falling out of the socket on older lampheads! just put it on the floor on its barndoors and rotate the yoke around, then put it on.

Great video. I am an amateur and never really thought about light orientation when I have used them. Now I know. Enlightening.

I've had cooling fans stop working on LED lights. It's amazing how hot they get, fry an egg hot. Now I go around set touching the back of the LED lights to make sure they are getting hoter than normal.

@@gaffergear High performance LED torches get really hot on high output, enough to burn if not careful. Most LED has protection against burn out, but high output LED gear generates a lot of heat in a small space.

Great explanation as usual Andrew. You should check out this upcoming light which immerses the LEDs directly into a special nonconductive liquid to cool them. I have the feeling it's going to be a game changer! definitionmagazine.com/reviews/water-born-reflex-r15
