So ultimately if you wish to own a full size SUV for more than 5-7 years then the only real option for us Indians is the Toyota Fortuner. The Gloster, Kodiaq & Meridien though good cars have a big risk of becoming white elephants post 5 years of ownership. Wish the Endeavor & Pajero sport were supported & marketed better. Could have kept Toyota on their toes in India.

I use Skoda Octavia Petrol LK split headlamps model, my 2nd car, earlier used Laura 2009 model. IMO they have degraded the next Octavia which obviously got discontinued due to a subdued demand. Same happened with Superb. I hope they dont do it with Kodiaq as well. SUV need to be Hybrid or Diesel in India. They missed the trick with Karoq by launching just 1000 units. Skoda really needs to up their strategy in India else it will soon move into VW zone, sadly.

Bhai toh bolega hi na, Dsg Kaafi kharab hue hai. Sabse kharab baat hai ki red light par jda der gear main rakhdo toh heat hota hai jbarjast. Reviewer ka kaam hi hai ki har issue ko batana. Tata ki burai krdo toh fanboy aa jaate hai, VW ke alag hai,…….bhai objectively dekho. Koi bhi brand hamara saga ni hai, sab kamane aaye hai. Jo accha product dega sahi value dega uski taareef hogi.

Let me tell you the engine is basically the same , differently tuned , when it comes to q3 it’s more towards agile performance whereas kodiaq is more like executive feeling . Audi q3 is always the best as it comes with the best transmission (s-tornic) and suspension that’s Quattro whereas kodiaq too comes with awd standard but Quattro is the best of all time since 1990. Hope my insights help you better

So , given the performance and features I think both justify it equally . Like you can get 2024 kodiaq (awd) for approximately 37-39 lakhs and q3 starts from 50 L approx with Quattro as standard across all variants

having owned a used Octavia, I can only recollect the pains that car gave me in terms of maintenance. The absolute pleasure, comfort, safety and luxury that it offered was soon outcasted by the pains. Every single part had to replaced in the car before it finished 10 years on the RC book. Buy new one ONLY if you have the mental strength to give it away for scrap rates OR have the heart and muscle to maintain it until EOL. Not sure about the Indian versions of Skoda which apart from the name and logo has no comparision to the REAL skodas.

i think the drawback is it is assembled in india.. and is based on 100% imported parts.. so if something gets damaged then it goes in the garage or service center for couple of months. Also parts are expensive because of import taxes.. Also you need to search for 95Octane petrol for this engine. Well skoda is only manufacturing slavia and kausaq in india with 100% parts made in india... the vw group set up a factory to manufacture 10 lakh cars in inda every year.. 2 years ago.. and expect 20% sales in india and 80% exports.. in 1.5 L version.. the engine is completely imported.. well even harrier or safari engines are imported.. so should not be big concern.. as hyundia and kia turbo engines are imported too.. so now the maintanence cost have gone down for slavia and kausaq but not for the imported ones like kodiaq or octavia..

Having owner 4 Skoda’s, only now I’m wise enough never to take this route no matter how amazing these cars are. I admire them from a distance. Kushaq/Slavia is not a bad deal since it’s manufactured in India. But for Kodiaq the parts are imported and everything costs a bomb

Hello Gagan, Planning to buy a new Skoda Kodiaq L&K and the dealer is offering brand new Kodiaq for Rs 37.49 Lakh Ex Showroom. Should I buy it or wait for the next Gen Kodiaq which is likely to be launched later this year. What would the expected Price and Engine Options at which Skoda is likely to launch the New Kodiaq in India. I cannot exceed cost of Rs 40 Lakh Ex Showroom as I've already overstretched my budget. it is cheaper version of Audi Q5 or Q7. More of Audi Q5 as the last 2 seats in Kodiaq are for small children. So people can save 35/60 lakhs more then for Audi Q5/Q7.

In my Skoda kodiaq all AC vents adjuster plastic are broken after 3 months usage and when I complain this to showroom guy not accepting. I went to gurudev motors Ambattur they are saying it's not under warranty. It takes around 1 lakh to change all front AC vents adjuster plastic. Very bad quality & experience from kodiaq.

Gagan, do you think this is still a lot more value just from a price perspective compared to say a Fortuner. The bullet proof reliability of a Fortuner will cost approx 7-10 lacs more with lesser luxury features. Looking at that this does look attractive but yes their reputation of reliability is something which makes many people look elsewhere

Ultimately it boils down to what value for money(VOM) means to you. If VOM means better upto date features,driving experience, luxury feel then skoda/vw would be the preferred choice. But if VOM means bullet proof reliability, low maintainence, hassle free ownership experience, build to last feel then hands down it's the Toyota.
