While the USSR achieved this on 12 April 1961 yet this is no trivial achievement for India. For a great power India this is necessary. The founding fathers of modern India were often highly educated, nationalists, honest with a great vision. They set-up appropriate foundations in many areas including space, atomic energy, industrialization, academics, etc. we are now enjoying the benefits of this foundation laid by these people. Though the BJP has many limitations (they are mostly uneducated) yet being a nationalistic party they have pushed this further. For this they must be given credit. China which was tightly linked to the Yehudi-lobby headed by Dr. Kissinger was able to purchase old USSR hardware of the 1960s from USSR during the drunkard Yeltsin era and thus place a man into space. The Indian effort is pretty indigenous though surely our USSR-RUSSIAN brothers as usual did provide help. Mr. Modi is also very close to the Yehudis (they love him and he them, they also prop up Modi) and nothing wrong in this since India has an independent foreign policy.
