I think mh is such a rare case of what you have described and i cant wait of the series takes its next step. Alot of games take the same step as zelda in becoming open world and more cinematic it seems. But i feel like capcom or the minds behind mh intended this vision of the game way ahead and dont just jump on a band wagon like pokemon or elden ring did to some extent. They sure be Cooking something special and i cant wait to see it compete against gta 6 lol

There was a dev who always wanted a platypus wyvern, way back around gen 2, but the concept was always rejected. In MHW he almost got it approved as Paolumu but was rejected again for a bat design. Then in MHR he finally won as Tetranadon was approved. If you google paolumu platypus, you can see the concept art of it.

Just another reason I’m referring to it as a Palitryx, it reminded me of an upscaled version of the Woodland Pteryx’s in World/Iceborne. Still really hoping they’ve grouped Palamutes and Palicos as dedicated supports though. Even if I have to ride this awesome archaeopteryx I want my hunting dog(s) out there beside me

I love how MH is able to scrap ideas and recycle them for later games. Something similar happened with Tigrex who was planned to have an ice covered mask that you would have to break off to reveal it's true face which was obviously scrapped but it seems that idea was reused for Goss Harag. Also we should totally nickname the new mount Archie like how Seregios was nicknamed Steve

I’m liking how the games like World and Wilds are leaning into the Hunter aspect more with the scouting, tracking, and so on. I feel that’s an underutilized part of the Hunter’s skill set as of late because not only are they highly trained warriors capable of hunting creatures several times larger than and wield fantastical abilities, but they’re also intelligent and skilled in other areas. We keep notes, we prepare before and during a hunt, and use the environment against our foes.

⁠@@gleipnirrrcuz it takes so much skill and prep to have automatic scoutflies just lead you to the monster. at least with paintballs, you had to memorize the monster pathing between zones in case you didn’t want to use the paintball. in universe, yeah i agree that the hunter is doing more hunting. but out of universe, i’d say no since all these mechanics that they introduce basically hold your hand and do everything for you. you don’t even have to think.

​@@gleipnirrrin older Monster Hunter the concept of preparing for the hunt was stronger like for example if your next quest was something like hunt a tigrex then you can't just start the quest because you're literally have nothing or very little supplies like mega-potions etc. so you had to go on quest to just gather the ingredients for all the consumables and of course you would go to hunt for a new set of armor that had the resistance of the typ of monster you want to fight so it is like one hart quest was like 40 min but 2-4 hours of preparing so you can actually do it but in newer monster hunter that is not the case anymore because they just throw you so much shit for free but again i started with world so i love both the newer and the older MH

I really hope our mount is customizable in both color palette, satchel/bag looks and colors, and what kind of aesthetic accessories we can adorn them with. I do wonder if we'll have a Palico that'll ride on the back of the mount that'll be an additional companion for solo hunts to help gather materials and fight monsters. I'm really looking for more of your video both on your channel and on Rurikhan's when you guys talk about all the stuff that could be and will be when those details on revealed.

I also wouldn’t mind a feature where you can choose between this bird wyvern having feathers or even just scales which would be effective for more added defense able to adapt better to aquatic or volcanic terrain if we get it. As for the gliding allow them to have a membrane on the arms to allow it. Which ever you choose would affect gameplay for better or worse depending on the situation.

It's pretty interesting that the palamutes concept was already there in Generation. And considering Rise and X wasn't that different in concept (with all those flashy move set and design) it's not surprising. I just hope that Magnet Spike and Tonfa will be in the new game.

It's just awesome that they had such great sketching ideas back in the days..! I would assume they couldn't pull it off back then due to limitations at the time and now they can almost fully bring their vision of game alive! It's crazy how my favorite franchise still have room to grow and i can't wait to experience yet another great game that is MHWILDS! So refreshing to get content from you gaijin! Thanks for explaining the book. I never got to see it myself. This looks so fun! Maybe we will get to see some new environmental uses for our weapons. The bow gun could end up with a new net ammo. I hope we don't loose all of the movability we got in rise. I liked being able to easily get from place to place, but I also miss the mh world "taxi" where you tell the creature where you want to go and you can prep ammo and sharpen your weapon. Make potions while the driving just handled itself.

There's also the Pteryx, an endemic life in World clearly inspired by archeo*pteryx*. Which glide from tree to tree in the ancient forest, and share a similar color scheme to the mount. (although hopefully we'll be able to customize the mount somewhat)

Fun fact, all birds are dinosaurs. Because they already evolved in the Cretaceous. So there's no need for a "missing link," since they're already the only group of dinosaurs that survived the asteroid. Thats why the raptor-like bird wyverns are still bird wyverns.

I was hunting one day in monster hunter world, and i was looking at the ecology of smaller creatures and i noticed a creature in ancient forest, and i INSTANTLY recognized it from the wilds trailer. A creature called pteryx looks ALOT like the mount in the wilds trailer but alot smaller called Pteryx. I wonder if its part of the same species or maybe an evolved version of it. I may be reaching far with this but it does look alot like it. Love the video Gaijin!

One thing about the new mount is that it looks kind of similar to the captureable Endemic Life found in World: the Woodland and Forest Pteryx If it ends up being very important, it'll probably be named something that combines "Pala" and some part of "Archaeopteryx" into it's name, just like how Palicos and Palamutes' names are based on Calicos and Malamutes. Or it might be called something else like Cohoots from Rise, and Chacha & Kayambe the Shakalakas from Tri

I'd love to get the "Paleopteryx" or "Archy" as a reward for an egg delivery Quest! Like the second quest you do is to deliver an egg but because of a Sandstorm you have to seek shelter and during that time the egg hatches into a small palico sized companion that will be a little baby mount until it finally grows up in high rank.

It makes me wonder if maybe the civilization has electricity as a resource, and they gather it using lightning rods that we see across the wild area, perhaps with underground cables or something to bring it back. I really like the 'lightning catcher' idea but since it doesn't seem like that is the role of the hunter, maybe that's part of the functionality of the rods.

Thank you for the fun video! I like the new buddy a lot! I'm glad they moved away from Palicos and Palamutes. They were fun, but this feels like a breath of fresh air. However, I do hope that the monster variety will resemble rise/sunbreak, more so than world/iceborne. I thought world was atrocious in that regard.

A lot of non bird dinosaurs had fully formed " wings " at thair Arms. Smaler raptors using them to fly and bigger ones for display or mobility.

I'm surprised how many people are forgetting that "Lightening Rods" were a real item in MH2 & MHP2G/MHF2/MHFU. Because you can't use bombs in the rain in the 2nd gen MH games, the Lightening Rods are basically their replacement. You place them down and a strike of lightening hits that spot and does damage.

I hope they didn't do away with Palamutes and you get to choose between different mounts that have different abilities (ie: Palamutes get alot of weapons, Archie can glide, stuff like that)

ooh finally someone talks about this book! I love how a book from 10 years ago with 2 decade old concept art shows that Capcom still has big things ahead for the franchise. Truly a great IP to be apart of. There are some more interesting things in the book that seem a bit far fetched but here we are now lol. I hope that concept armor will be included in the game, I mean its right there, weapons and all haha. I got a theory about one of the monsters coming and it might be hyujikiki from MH frontier cause of his hyena type design and he has the a ability to use lighting or redirect it using his spikes like acts like lightning rods

I wonder if we'll see wild versions of our feathered friend, much like how MHGen had the Domestic and Wild Moofahs. (Though hopefully we won't have/be able to hurt the possible relatives of our faithful companion!) It'd be interesting to observe how these creatures normally live - and how they were able to be tamed into such capable companions. (Also, if Palicoes are involved: how would they ride along with us? Maybe they'd just sit on *our* shoulders...)

I also wonder if you will have a palico companion since it does not seem to have a pouch to ride in. I suppose it could "teleport" like it does in rise when you speed away with the palamute in rise.
