I think the AC kits not having that much articulation really bothers me that much because they aren't really designed to do any sort of Gundam-esque posing. Even in game the most emotion we see from them are how they turn around or fly or what have you. They are grounded (ish) machines and I appreciate that a lot.

Fun fact: it’s commonly missed but there might actually be 2 separate Nightfall/Ravens in AC6! In both the trailers and the first mission the Nightfall we see actually has a Ludow submachine gun equipped to the right back instead of the Songbirds grenade launcher! This could mean that it’s actually a different Raven! Granted we have seen characters switch parts of their ACs throughout separate missions like how when you face Iguazu in the depths of the watchpoint on your way to Institute city he actually has a Laser Orbit and the Mind Alpha arms.

Yeah I don't think it was a good idea to have NIGHTFALL share 3/4 of its parts with LOADER-4. Would've been better if either LOADER-4's or NIGHTFALL's Core, Arms, and Legs designs were different. Personally I would've made LOADER-4 skinnier and less bulky. Built to be lightweight and cheap to maintain as possible for EVA and transportation/smuggling operations as advertised by RaD. While NIGHTFALL remains the same, with its lore being that its a 3rd party modification of LOADER-4's parts. Higher scanner stats, higher AP, higher recoil control, but heavier and more EN hungry.

That weathering looks absolutely fantastic! Another cool thing I love doing to make it look like the mech has seen battle, is creating a divot in the armor to give the appearance of a ricochet. For Nightfall, I'd probably do it on one of the shoulder pieces to make it look like he almost got shot in the head, but dodged out of the way at the last second. It's so simple but gives the piece so much character.

The articulation on these really is amazing. Old AC designs from the early games clearly weren't really made with actual physical movement in mind most of the time. No one really cared if parts clipped through each other in a PS1 game, and toys from games were really rare in the 90s. So when you do find one of the rare figures or models of them, they can't really do very much, even with some clever extra jointing. Like the Kotobukia Nineball kit. That thing has some serious collision issues with its shoulders, just because of how they're designed in game. But these clearly aren't like that at all. Not only did FromSoft obviously put way more thought into the game models to begin with, to make sure they can actually move well without any major clipping issues. Bandai also worked their usual joint magic on these kits as well. And the results are really impressive. I can't wait for my pre-orders to finally come in so I can see them for myself.

On the note of the panel liner; I've got the brush style pen for panel linng, and I've managed to get a dirty effect from it when I used it on something like the 30MM VTOL heli-plane you can buy. It slightly darkens it, but makes it more realistic, if you know where to smear the ink.

@wolf-xf6hf10 күн бұрын
If you are interested in avoiding harsh chemicals on panel lining while taking advantage of the capillary action you should use oil paints and a thin brush. Just get some black oil paint above student grade for about 7 dollars. I recommend gamblin 1980, winton, or utrecht if you have a blick art store near you since they are all a step above student grade which you need for pigment density. That should run you about 6 or 7 USD and then you can also pick up some white/mineral spirits for cheap or odorless spirits if you dont mind spending a little more for no odor and that should run you around 5 usd. Then a couple cheap synthetic brushes and you are set for panel lining
@zaelnoxious70652 ай бұрын
Speaking of panel lining chemicals, it took me two months since the beginning of August to find the best ink I've tried oil paints, acrylics from Citadel, Vallejo and Army Painter, even gouaches, but I got the best result without damaging the bare plastic with alcohol inks, like those used by epoxy DIY girlies 30mil of ink for ~$3 in my currency is a literal steal, and it's so easy to wipe it with just an ethanol-dipped microfiber/cotton bud Also because of the alcohol's low surface tension it runs through the lines just like your markers

Honestly the the level of articulation here is damn impressive not only due to it being mostly ball joints but also the weird, almost "cartoony" proportions of the starter AC's parts. The legs in particular really surprised me with how much horizontal range they have despite a complete lack of thigh or knee swivels. 30MM kits aren't really my jam purely due to how small they are but if a third party company was able to make an upscaled version of this (preferably around Perfect Grade size) I'd by that shit in a heartbeat.

articulation-wise, the mechs in AC don't really move that much. It's not doing martial arts like mechs in G Gundam would do so I guess the limited articulation is justified, it's canon. To clarify, the articulation I am referring to are the ones physically done by the mech on its body like torso, leg, arms etc. Not the rapid direction change or the mech mobility as a whole

I do t remember what the numbers are exactly, but I do remember whe. The kits were originally announced, I did some math, based on the size in centimeters, to figure out the scale. Apparently, in fromsoft's game engines, the scale of measurement is pretty much 1/1 with meters, which is why modders were easily able to port ACs into elden ring and the Tarnished player character into Armored Core. Allhumanpeople sized infrastructure is perfectly scaled to the tarnished, which means the measurements in game are almost perfectly measureable All that was to say, these kits are just about 1/60 scale Put it next to a perfect grade.
