Heavyarms Custom/EW has already gotten multiple MGs. Would be awesome to see Heavyarms TV version get at least a high quality HG update like this Sandrock, though I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for an RG of it. It would go perfectly with the new Tallgeese TV RG, to recreate the Arctic battle!

Sandrock always had the most minimalist look of all the five wing mobile suits. And this kit just proves how a minimalist design can be good if its done with effort and dedication. Bandai certainly put a lot into this kit, given its low price point and availability as a normal release, its such a cool thing to have for both experienced builders (nostalgia) and new enthusiasts! Great review!

As far as proportions go, I have always felt that the original Okawara lineart was a bit “thick” and that the animation thinned out the proportions. To me, this HG is true to the animated version... which I am thankful for. In my opinion, the wonky proportions Okawara gave the designs were always “saved” by the animation. Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed designs are especially true of this.

I like to use nippers for the first nip and sharp toenail clippers for the second, it delivers a strong quick snap that leaves no stress marks. I also sometimes use some sandpaper to clean it up.

Thanks for the review. I think Bandai forgot Sandrock's uzi-looking gun. I remembered seeing it in the anime a few times and they usually don't miss details. Like how the HG Wing Zero's shield can extend and i remember seeing it only once in the anime.

iirc the HGAC kits in the HGUC line are actually done in a slightly different scale to make them fit size-wise with the other HG kits From Gundam Wikia Mobile suits that are 15 meters tall such as the F91 Gundam F91 and XXXG-01W Wing Gundam are actually not molded in 1/144 scale; instead, they are at 1/132 scale.

Really hope Bandai goes all out and does all the suits, the grunts as well as gundams. However, the tv version heavyarms did not have the gatling gun as its arm, it was handheld. The only time the gun replaced the arm was when Trowa lent heavyarms to Heero to fight against Zechs at alaska/antarctica

Most Gundam are 18m to 22m tall. Leo is 16m tall; for proportionate increase in a single linear dimension, volume increases exponentially, so it stands to reason that Leo is has significantly smaller internal volume and mass. Further, the F35 has 25 ton gross weight, but 35 ton max take off weight. The F22 has a 41 ton max take off weight. The F35 and F22 are about 16m and 18m long, respectively (think of a Gundam lying down to compare relative sizes to a fighter jet.) On the other hand, the AH-64 Apache Longbow is about 17m long if you don't include the rotor, and its max take off weight is right around 11 tons. Think of Leo like an attack helicopter, and most Gundams like air superiority fighters, and the relative weights are actually pretty close to real life numbers.

But also, because I haven't watched Wing and don't know anything about it, Gundanium is new to me. Figured they'd just call it the same thing (if they mention it at all, I actually didn't expect they would other than in UC.) Now that I've read up on it I feel like... Gundam Wing is still Final Fantasy Gundam. That has not changed. Because "Gundarium" was a kitschy stretch to begin with for, "Luna-titanium alloy;" like, I get what they're doing with the name, but the science doesn't.... really parse, I mean, maybe, maybe at a stretch. But at least it wasn't super magical in terms of material properties. It was just, suspension-of-disbelievably better than titanium, so, fine. But then Wing comes along and "Gundanium" is just unobtainiumly better and so none of that makes sense. Which I guess is probably why Leo can weigh 10 tons. Hell, make it out of aerogel; Leo could weigh five pounds once you start deciding that basic materials are mystically more important than decent engineering.
