I also had a cousin like that. She asked me if I wanted to be roommates one time when she heard I was looking for a roommate. This was a few years ago, but she said, my half of the rent would be 2500 dollars. I had nowhere near that kind of money which was nice since I could tell her no, immediately without being rude. But her solution was to suggest that I just "Get my parents to pay for my rent." Since that's what she was doing. And had always done. And still does. She's like 38 now and has never actually paid her own rent (Pretty sure she just lets drug addicts live with her in exchange for drugs). Then she also asked if I wanted to go outside and smoke weed. This was all at Christmas dinner, btw. And her parents, when they found out that I did not want to do drugs, asked if they helped me with my rent, could I move in, to help her out. I eventually just excused myself and went to Tower Records. She was my secret Santa that year and had given me a gift card. Which, when I went to pay, I discovered only had $9.17 on it. Which means that she clearly was given a $50 gift card, bought some CDs and gave me the remainder.
