Lived there 8 years while serving with the VA, retired and came back home to Puerto Rico! Gainesville Florida by far was our best experience ☝️👏

I grew up in G-ville from '63 to '70. Lived on 17th st. The old campus was my playground. Believe me there wasn't a cooler place to grow up in the hippie days than old, small, and so funky than Gainesville Florida.

I graduated from GHS in 1952 . My dad taught English in Anderson Hall. I went to school to UVa through medical school (Fla didn't have that school then), but I've never lost my love for Alachua County and the old court house downtown. Some of my high school friends are still alive there, and I remember all of the gator growls.

6:45 Krispy Kreme and the legendary Hot Doughnuts Now neon sign are as much a part of Gainesville and UF as Florida Field. I recognized many of the places you displayed before you put the graphic on identifying them so I don't feel too old but damn, Gainesville is all grown up now! I was at UF from Fall 1994 to graduation in Fall 1996. Lived in Gainesville from End 1997 through 2002, save for six awful months in Savannah. Of course I've been back for games several times but haven't been back since I passed through in 2014 leaving the state for good. As a kid we went up a couple times a year for football games (starting in 1976). My dad is a UF alum (1954) and when I started there in 1994 he said the campus is largely unrecognizable. So much had changed and much was new. Now I can say I know that feeling as I didn't recognize Univ. Ave and 13th St on the NW corner. I knew the old buildings had been torn down but last time I was there it was still a field. Now it has apartments/condos on it. But through all of the changes the University of Florida's architectural style of red brick has maintained and makes UF one of the most beautiful college campuses in America. Thanks for making this video!

Hi, this drone footage is amazing! I can't find a way to message you, but I wanted to ask for your permission to use the drone clips over the stadium and over Paynes Prairie for my own video for youtube and instagram that is not-for-profit. I would give you credit for your clips under it. Message me if this is ok, thank you!

Unfortunately particular parts/areas of Gainesville are slowly developing or not at all, because it is last on the todem pole, ignored, and not seen as valuable. It is really the forgotten land.

I don't agree with drone usage for this. Not sure about other places, but illegal to fly one for this purpose over Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park.

I bet it was very cool back then. The notorious Gainesville 8 was popular back then. There are still hippie families in little pockets of Gainesville. Rainbow families... Thank you for your comment .
