Gajeel and Levy team was actually the most balanced team probably the strongest pairing from the s class candidates...the other teams felt more like two fighters but with this team they counter each other limitations.

Lucy and Cana were also pretty good. Not very strong combat-wise, but Cana has experience, and Lucy has luck and knowledge. Since they survived the combat part they had a pretty decent chance at winning, I think.

I think the worst part of this arc is how Gajeel gets shafted, like don't get me wrong as part of his redemption taking on these guys to save levy, great, fantastic. But the fact Gajeel, a former S Class in his own right, the strongest from Phantom Lord and Iron Dragon Slayer does nothing of real value never set well with me. Losing to one of the 7 kin. Sure, but this just wasnt it imo.
