The first one is saying as an outright equivalent standing while the second one is something like a positioning that if somehow gildarts is taken out in a battle there is Atleast Laxus who can stand the ground even if not as strong as Gildarts.😅

I know a lot of people dislike that Sting surrendered and didnt fight FT. I personally love that win. It shows what Fairy Tail stands for. For not giving up. For fighting till the end for the guild members that were alone the past 7 years. Sting surrendering shows that even though he thought he aqcuired a "new power" with his friendship with Lector, standijg before FT he realized he still hasnt caught up to them.

You know they are outclassed when Erza level S tier without 2nd Origin was going toe to toe with those strong wizards. If you remember in Phantom Lord arc, that Laxus' Halberd attack would've killed Natsu if not for Gajeel taking it. And yeah, Mashima might've rushed the end of GMG, due to having another arc intertwined with it.

as viewers we new fairy tail was guna win. but imagine how the guild felt being the bottom for 7 years and being on top again for the 1st time in 7 years. fairy tail may have a stupid friendship power system but the story is so heart warming

Nah that power system is fire. Strong Emotions = Zenkai boost. Feelings, bonds, and Family is the theme which drove the narrative "power of friendship". but even the theme is done well. Reactors love it

The thing you gotta realize about jura is that he hasn't had any real competition with how powerful he is. Not to mention a majority of his technique is defense. So he's not used to getting blasted in the face full force multiple times.

I'd imagine he would be a great fighter, considering Obabasama said he's the strongest human member of the 10 Wizard Saints, aka, the 4th strongest overall. I doubt you become the 4th strongest 10 Wizard Saint member by just being a defensive combatant.

@@bryanmartin8935 The point is that it'd take a lot to become among the 10 strongest wizards in the country & anybody who's apart of that 10 would most likely be strong enough to take head on hits, cause a purely defensive wizard would probably not make it to Top 10 in the country, maybe in the continent. How can someone, like Jura, be the Top 10 in Fiore, or Ishgar, just by being defensive? You're saying he's defensive & probably isn't used to taking head on hits. I'm saying he probably is used to that, cause if he wasn't, someone probably would've beat his ass a long time ago & taken his 10 Wizard Saint spot.

I mean its not exactly like most of us were happy to see Gajeel again when we brought him in. Fairy tail does a pretty good job of giving some reason for characters getting a level of redemption. Jellal and Ultear were pretty awful too, though I suppose all 3 of them had some positive points mixed into their original appearances, moreso than Minerva at least.

Jellal and Ultear were groomed into the shitbags they were at the start as children. They never had a chance to be anything else. Gajeel probably didn't have it much better with gaining his attitude under that clown Jose. All three started making up for their shit pretty much as soon as the influences driving them into evil were removed. Sabertooth continue to behave like assholes after their master is out of the picture. They only pull their heads out of their assess after they all nearly die eaten by dragons. Sabertooth's redemption as a whole felt unearned. Minerva's doubly so. SPOILER Minerva goes even further by joining literal demons.

I know I'm late to the party, but just a bit of trivia: at this point Jura was the 5th Wizard Saint, while Makarok himself used to be the 6th, which already shows how powerful he is. But does anyone remember who used to be the 5th? JELLAL. Or rather, Jellal's magic projection, Siegrain... Which in a way mean half of Jellal was the official 5th Wizard Saint. Power levels are a mess in Fairy Tail and Jellal never gets fully explored, by he is STRONG;

I believe the outcome was considered surprising because Fairy Tail had been losing for the past 7 years so them winning with no defeated members and sting giving up in the end was unbelievable to the princess. The fight between laxus and jura has always felt rushed to me because we barely saw anything. That fight deserved its own episode honestly, but a lot is going on in this arc so the animators were probably struggling on what to focus on. 🤷🏽

I can see both your arguments on the Jura fight but its more so is done off screen but still should've shown more Ft does seem to have a problem sometimes with Lack luster finishes but the way Gajeel finished Rougue was top tier Gajeel literally grabbed that man by his head and launched him like a rag dull followed by one of the coldest Dragon roars ive seen in the entire the only perect finish of these fights

For example Zeref, Hades, and Mardgeers defeat were 100x better to me in manga form. Even if it ended in oneshots. Even Igneel vs Acnologia was forgettable to me in the anime but was one of the most iconic moments in that arc when I read it but that's just me

@@delanireid same. It's more intense in the manga for me too. Maybe because we already know what will happen in the anime while in the manga there's still weekly anticipation. Some animated ones that translated well I can think of was Natsu vs Zero. Dragon Force Natsu's hits to Zero was animated to feel heavy, like they had some real weight to them.

I mean in the manga the did express that Laxus has potential as a wizard saint. Juvia and Grey has the better teamwork compared to Lyon and Shelia, and Erza saved her second origin for nakagami. Yes this is the anime, but it still applies to how strong he truly is considered to be in their world. They just didn't add that scene in. Also, its not really plot armor when two wizards with proper teamwork defeats two other wizards who can't focus with a powerful attack. It makes sense that they were able to defeat them. For Erza, whats wrong with them having a strong character who doesn't use their full strength until they actually need to? It's pretty bad going full strength right away since you could mess up your attack and be out of energy to follow through afterwards. Again, it's all good if you're not a fan of this arc or chapter, but just saying.
