I think, the list of roll numbers under phd only in metit list are of those applied for category 2 but scored between 33% and cut off. They are not eligible for assistant prof but eligible for phd . Apart from this , all the students applied under category 3 and scored above 33% are eligible for phd by default ( no seperate merit list )

Sorry, Im not sure. I applied for 2nd category, (mathematics, obc, 44.125% cut off 44.765 % ) scored just below the cut off , my number is in phd only list...So I guess so. Which category you applied? ​@poojachacherkar72
