BE-OD is a fire breathing dragon. I use through a Bassbreaker 45 and it really does deliver the tones in this demo. Internal gain trim pot lets you dial back the insane gain a bit if desired. EQ is extremely responsive, the presence control allows this pedal to work with dark and bright amps equally well. Beautiful amp-like response, the BE-OD feels like it's part of your amp, not a pedal.

craziest thing. I have pedal board that is 90% Strymon top of the line gear, and I love it. It's excellent. Then I went out an bought the BE-OD and the Walrus Audio Juliana. I can't stop playing just these 2 pedals. They are AMAZING and both cost togther about the same price as just one of my Strymon pedals. Great Pedals. Friedman hit it out of park on this one! The BE-OD is a BEAST!

Freidman just took over the entire Game... they are 199 and worth ever cent .. if you can get used online get it .

it's true...I haven't gotten around to turning it down,..but it needs it ...at noon it's the maximum gain anyone would ever need....sounds like an amp....I plug it into my orange rockerverb 50 mk2 fx return....it's just killing...so much gain and still clarity....

try it, dude...if you have a nice power section,...it just sounds amazing.....I've used it through the front of the amp too,...sounds great,...but on my orange amp I like it straight through the power amp with no preamp from the orange...it just sounds pure...more than enough gain....but I'd use it through the front too if the situation demanded it!!! ...the bottom line is it's a magic pedal...it's weird....it has the most gain but is still clean....sounds "amp like"....love it...
@stepitupandgo676 жыл бұрын
I can attest to that....it's still actually articulate at the crazy gain sounds...I love mine...if I had to have one pedal,..this is it...other than the fractal ax8 that is....but If I was flying anywhere,..that thing is coming with me just in case....for me it's desert island shit...

I love your playing and tone, really nice. "Clean" is Master Volume all the way up then using preamp level as the "Volume". If the amp is already on "edge of break up" the pedal will sound "gainier" than it would on a completely clean amp. I have a non-master JTM 45 (which functions as Master all the way up and volume is the basically preamp level) and it takes a lot of gain to get it as filthy as I want it. The Friedman BE-OD- it actually has enough gain to push a TRULY clean amp into chunky nasty territory. There's a budget pedal by "Tomsline" called the British OD (I think the Plexion is really similar) that has a similar, very aggressive gain stage like the Friedman and it's great for the house but doesn't quite have all the bells and whistles (or pick sensitivity) of the BE-OD. There are some really nice, transparent OD's out there that sound great but don't have enough gain to push a truly clean amp to where we are trying to get. Cheers!

The thing with the 'tight' control is the tighter you go, the softer it gets and it loses quite a large amount of gain.
@JendrixHimi5 жыл бұрын
Dont you thinks its got enough gain???... wow .... that is the reason I'm still in 2 minds about it , even when he turns gain to zero , thats still a lot of gainy compression there , Im thinking it stuggles to do anything else other than what it does, but it does that great though.. maybe not open sounding enough for some

I got scared at (0:55) I thought there was going to show a caption reading : R.I.P. GAK 1992-2017 and a eulogy "Standing before you today to farewell the guitar player/reviewer: Gak is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Words cannot describe the sorrow and loss that we are feeling, but we will try. GAK was a wonderful, sweet boy. Even as a baby, he had a calm temperament and as he grew into a little boy, always took things in his stride. I remember his first day at guitar school - I think I was more nervous than he was. I held his little hand and walked to the gate thinking that he was about to cry, but GAK calmly turned to me and said, “This is going to be fun, Daddy... Will there be lots of guitars here for me to play with?” I laughed and assured him there would be. Being the youngest of three, GAK was always special to his sisters, GAK II and GAK III. They would dress him up and take him out for walks in the pram - they were just so excited to have a little brother and when he started guitar school, they became fiercely protective of him. As GAK grew from a boy into a teenager, I could see the man that he would become - strong, steadfast assured and a bad-ass at guitar. He loved guitar school but hated sports. Every afternoon after guitar school, he would race down behind the school and smoke "fatties" with his mates and smoke "fools" with his sick guitar skills. He had lots of notches on his guitar strap. When he became captain of the guitar team, we were so proud. He was always competitive, but never humble. It was such an endearing quality. William and I had some wonderful times together. After the girls had left home to go to university, the two of us would go camping together at the weekends. GAK loved soloing - he loved the adventure and simplicity of it. After a day of guitar shredding, smoking weed and getting laid constantly, he would get philosophical spend hours talking about life-all at the age of twelve!!!!. It was those conversations that I will never forget. I was watching GAK grow into a young man - a young man with so much enthusiasm, spunk and with so many heinous plans for the future. Recently, all he talked about was the overseas trip he had planned with his mates after they finished their guitar school. He couldn't wait to go over to Asia to have what he called “his amazing Asian adventure”. But he also looked forward to studying to become a guitar MASTER - a vocation that was a perfect choice for GAK as he was a gentle but perverted soul, unwavering in his decadence, and with a real desire to get his "hump-hump" on!!!. GAK was adored by his friends and family and it is testament to him how many of you are here today to farewell GAK. Not only was he a loving son and brother, he was a kind and giving friend ...he never was stingy with his great weed. Someone who was always a pleasure to be around..and LOVED to spread pleasure all around.. To have lost GAK is heartbreaking - it has come as such a shock to us all. His life was far too brief. the UK has clearly lost its brightest star in an otherwise boring country-whose aesthetically seem to be stuck in the1970s. GAK's family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who have given their support, compassion and love throughout this very difficult time. I know in my heart that he would not want us to grieving for too long. Rather, GAK would want us all to remember the good times we all shared with him and all the great review videos he made. Goodbye GAK. You will live in our hearts forever.He died doing what he was put on God's green earth to do....reviewing guitar pedals. this guitar playing, knife hitting pussyhound will never be forgotten."

Distortion/overdrive pedals are ran in front of the amp. He doesnt say this because it is unusual to run dist/od pedals in the fx loop. This doesn't mean you cant but most every guitarist runs through the front of the amp EVH, Hendrix, Kirk H., Paul Gilbert, David Gilmore, Jimi Page, Kery King, SRV, Joe Satch, Angus Young, Randy Roads, Tony Iommi, Zakk Wylde, Gary Moore, Nuno, Marty Friedman. Dist/ODs in front. Put it where you think it sounds best.
