Thank you so much for this helpful video. Do you think that nowadays a 714Ce from 2015 is still a good deal when sold to the price of a new 214CE-K DLX? Cheers!

70s clearly sounded better… for that type of playing at least. The CS would likely sound better for more of a blues thing, but for hard rock and shredding, the 70s LPC killed the modern CS.

What is the closest to fender’s neck shapes is the speed neck like? I’m guessing the modern D on fenders ultra line.

Hey bro, I picked up a Ibanez gio RG (HsH with a 5 way switch) & its only working with the switch all the way to either end. There is no sound in any other position. I was wondering, hoping you might be able to send me any photos to help me figure out the wiring? It has EMG hz pickups..

Understanding if u want one u can only get a scam 24 fret cause the kids today r too stupid to know it's a sales gimmick that makes the neck over a half inch longer..and the strumming area smaller

Great breakdown - the Streamliners are the most bang for the buck out of any guitars I've encountered in my 27 years of playing. Cleaner neck joint on my Streamliner G2622T-P90 than my more expensive Electromatic 140th anniversary semi. The Electromatics are amazing bang for their buck as well.

I have the Fly and Katana, got few years back. To make a more level playing field re cost, when I bought Fly + extension speaker was about the same as the Katana alone. Fly is better for acoustic electrics IMO... Both very good for what they are... Katana weighs about as much as an empty lunch box...

Sorry can’t resist.. it’s North Laine (singular) as opposed to The Lanes. It even says so on the thing you’re standing on. 😄

The Streamliner and Electromatic lines are mind boggling quality for the value. Really up there with guitars that cost 5-10x. I've bought two Streamliners and 1 Electromatic brand new for less than $300 on blowout prices, and a used 140th anniversary semi.

How did you get 90's era Dave Foley to play guitar? And where'd he learn to play like that? I've got all sorts of questions! Seriously great playing, and nice guide. Still not quite sure where Gretsch comes up with their numbers and letters after the G of course. Just got a G2420 in Village Amber, and I can't stop playing it, new favorite guitar!!

He was wrong on the Direct To Jack switch description. It definitely doesn’t “boost” or change the tone, it simply bypasses the volume and tone knobs. Useful for several situations, just allows you to keep your settings and trigger full volume/tone on command. It took some getting used to it’s a fun tool!

I use two ride cymbals regularly. A Paidte Signautre Dry Ride which I use for an all purpose ride. I've played every type of gig I could with it from jazz to metal in the past nine years I've had it. It's used from 1991. It reminds me of the Zildjian K. Custom Dark Ride here. At least with the sound of the bow. The other cymbal I love is the Paiste Signature Dry Dark Ride. Again. It's a pretty versatile that people seem to like for jazz, and I usually use mine for rock/metal. This one sounded amazing with the tips of Regal Tip Groovers. Sort of a rounded barrel tip on a 5A + type stick. Since those sticks are gone. I switched to Vic Firth 5B and 5A Doubleglaze, which I think I like even more, but I'll have to do more testing to know for sure. When finances allow, I'd like to build a set of Zildjians again, around the K. Custom, and K. Custom Dark Ride.

Great basic break down. Actually the hollow bodies are great for hard rock, punk, and even metal tones. I personally play in punk rock band high gain and low gain tones. I know a few punks that play hollow body guitars as well. The filterTrons are very versatile pickups. The black top pickups in the Billy Duffy Falcon are amazing as well. I do believe the Jet models, Duo Jets, etc...are all chambered. So still not a total solid body guitar. The models like the Gretsch Corvette are solid though. Great video to help get someone started! The player in the video really demonstrated that if you know how to play, low end or high end models...you can sound great! Again great video!

hi guys, my advice as retired shredder of the 80s: Ibanez guitars are worth of attention, from hi spec Gio to Team J Craft. Ignore all these clowns like vai and stuff not feed them, do not buy signature models. All way up models to find from wide range regular models and far cheaper. Enjoy
