Galactix (PC/DOS) 1991, Cygnus Software

Galactix is a vertical scrolling shoot em up and ancestor of Raptor: Call of the shadows made by Cygnus software in (1991-1993). Nowadays to be known as Mountain King Studios. The game has 100 levels/waves they are kinda easy to beat. Galactix has two bigger bosses in middle of the run and the end of last level.
Pilot your way through the relentless Xidus Fleet in an attempt to save the earth from annihilation. Galactix is a space arcade type game where you pilot your ship to shoot enemy fighters and collect bonus's with your ships mechanical arm.

The sheer *_JOY_* you get when you reach the next level of weapon upgrades and devastate enemies faster and faster was crack-levels of fun little 6 year old me would scream over. ...To think, it's been more than 30 years since I played this...Where'd the time go?

Woah this brings back memories, but I remember slightly different ship graphics. And it's cool to see the level of detail they put in. Around level 50 you get to Uranus, and Uranus is about halfway through the solar system (if you count Pluto as a planet). And wow the ending joke credits are hilarious! They may have been the first to invent "thanx" a decade before SMS!

@@tsm688 you mean the ship in the intro flying into asteroid station? I dont really remember. I think it was just white noise with reverb. Back then there were no sound websites had to make stuff anyway you could

@@tsm688 BTW while digging trying to find all the old Raptor files for this new Raptor I found the original Galactix Music which I thought was lost and why windows version had different music. One day will make a new windows port.

I am from New Zealand. Your game also made it here as i played it in the mid 90s, although i never beat the game. The intro always cracked me up. "Aw gee, that's to bad" 😂

Whoa, I used to watch my dad play this when I was 6-7. It was the only game he was good at and he finished all 100 levels. The sound of the level advancing has always stuck with me, but I forgot the music was this good. And I remember the huge reddish colored final boss. Good times :)

anyone knows a DOS game similar to this, it's also vertical shooting type. sorry my memory is vague so I only remember there is an enemy looking like green octopus-alien, and you shoot a straight line of buster at first, then eat power up and you can shoot 2, 3..more lines.
