Galapagos Marine Reserve in Danger by Chinese fishing fleet

Ecuador is monitoring a large fleet of fishing vessels, most of them Chinese, of the Galapagos Islands protected waters area and has increased patrolling to ensure the ships do not enter the area of the ecologically sensitive islands. Chinese fishing vessels appear each year near the Galapagos, attracted by marine species such as the hammerhead shark, which is in danger of extinction.

Change your Economic Zone to go out all the from the Coast of Ecuador to 400 miles past the Galapagos! You can do it! China claimed the entire South (china) Sea, you can do the same to protect the life from these assassins of the Sea!

Sadly, many of these fishing vessels are owned by Chinese government/Communist Party officials. They also receive government fuel subsidies which makes Beijing culpable.

Take my suggestion! The new Economic zone to protect the World Heritage site Galapagos needs to be from the shoreline of Ecuador, all the way to 400 miles west of the Galapagos. The Chinese are taking advantage right now of depleting all the ocean life BETWEEN the two zones! MAKE IT A SINGLE ZONE so the Chinese can’t fish between the zones! If you don’t act quickly, there will be nothing left. China has bn hit hard with crop destroying floods, landslides, earthquakes, and locusts. They WILL be having a food shortage and they are preparing for that by cleaning out the oceans! Having 1.4 billion people to feed is NOT an asset, it’s a liability!

Something has to be done. No company/fishery/etc should be allowed to destroy a precious environment like this one. Everyone (including fishermen) need to understand that ethics really do exist and it's not ok to destroy the Galapagos and other places where nature's beauty thrives.

It is amazing how they travel 16.000 km all the way from China to the Galapagos Islands what takes months. So they have deep-freeze rooms on the ships and after six months all these fish are taken out of the deep-freezer for consumption? How is this fresh fish?

Change your ownership area of the ocean off your coast. Claim ALL THE AREA from your coastline on the mainland to 800 miles past the Galápagos Islands to the West. Should be simple, China did it in the South (china) Sea!
