Galapagos - Part 2: Scuba Diving Cormorant Point & Champion of Floreana Island

A compilation of footage taken during our dives from the island of Floreana in the Galapagos Archipelago. It was a 2 hour boat ride from Santa Cruz to Floreana Island and it was well worth the travel. The sites Champion and Cormorant Point were unique to other sites we visited and the incredible amount of life around both were a testament to it's remote location.
Shot with GoPro Hero 10 at 4K/60fps and (2) Backscatter Macro Wide 4300 video lights. No red filter. The underwater footage has minor color correction. The speed of certain clips has been slightly altered for dramatic effect.
Our first visit to Galapagos was everything we'd hoped for and was incredibly rewarding. The landscapes were striking and the diving was about as good as it gets from a land based perspective. We would've loved to dive from a live aboard but it just wasn't affordable for us this year. Still, we saw just about everything this ancient ecosystem is famous for. The water was cool, the volcanic topography was impressive and the marine life was abundant. There were times we wished for better visibility but all those nutrients in the water column is what attracts so much interesting megafauna so close to shore and into recreational diving depths.
We opted to travel with a package arranged for us by the dive operation we used. Academy Bay provided all transfers, scuba diving, accomodations and land based tours from Santa Cruz and San Cristobal. Everything happened exactly as it was promised and we were very happy overall. The dive boats and crew were among the best we've encountered. The guides were excellent at finding the animals everyone wanted to see.

Thanks a lot! Sometimes I consider upgrading to a better camera but I don’t want more to pack and deal with. GoPro does the trick for my purposes.
