This music has the power to bring back my sanity like nothing else. Charlie just doesn't make music, he makes medicine.

This is the sound of a windy midwestern winter night, in a house lit only by a fireplace. Your only friends left are the sleeping dog by your side, a lonely women in the next room you used to love, and that familiar warm glow of alcohol in your gut.

Funny, I've been on a Charlie Parr bender the last few days. Snowed in in the Berkshires with a man with a drinking problem. He's sad. We have our dogs, a beautiful woodstove keeping us warm and all the provisions we need. I've been drinking tea and painting with my watercolors. Just getting through it. Once the roads are cleared I'm going to pack up my dog, my paints and all my stuff and head home. My point is...Charlie fits perfectly into all of this.

It is disappointing that ten years on Charlie hasn't wrapped a song around those two sentences.

This guy is way inspiring!! I love the way he plays the banjo so he can sing at the same time. I love his slide guitar. My doggie is snoring now but that is a good sign.

One of mine, too. One day, though, it really scared me. I pulled into a gas station where I stop pretty often. There was a woman there, looked a lot like my ex-wife...except she didn't look well. It's a common corner for the homeless to stand by the stoplight, use the restroom, get some junkfood for the money they get. This woman looked she had been homeless for a while. I saw her go into the building, and followed her. She disappeared into the bathroom, so I went back outside, to fill up the tank. Kept an eye on the door, but I never saw her come out. Went back inside, no sign. So I continued on down the freeway. A few weeks later, I ran into my ex. She was fine, healthy, with a friend. We caught up for a few minutes...I didn't tell her my story. Gave her a big hug, and we headed our separate ways.
