The Big Cat was in my opinion one of the best pure power hitters in all of baseball. His stance at the plate and his swing were things of beauty.
@JonahLoeb7 жыл бұрын
He really had one of the sweetest righty swings of all time. Edgar Martinez and Adrian Beltre are the only ones I can think of who measure up.

His stance was altered greatly by his hitting coach with the Cardinals Don Baylor (who later became his manager). He opened up his stance which allowed him to see the ball coming with both eyes and it really reduced his strikeouts. I agree with your comment though he was an excellent hitter, a gem.

The Rockies had some amazing players it’s a shame they never had the pitching to match the hitting talent. Guys like walker, Helton, galarraga, bischette, Castilla some of the best pure hitters in the modern era

I was at this game, He just missed hitting a fourth that went to the warning track, I'm a Padre fan and It was surreal, It was like everybody in the stadium knew what was going to happen before it happened, you could sense something special was going on with The Big Cat that day.

Don Baylor was a genius hitting coach. One of the best of this era with Mike Hargrove & maybe Charlie Manual. Galaragga & Bichette were journeymen. Baylor turned them into MVP-caliber run producers

Charlie Jones and Dave Campbell were on the mics that day on Rockies TV...weren't the best combination in my opinion. Drew Goodman with his signature "take a good look, you won't see it for long would fit best on all of these home runs.
