Building a sweet home for our backyard chicken, Chicken coop by an architect!｜Garden Making ep10

As our chicks grow bigger, it needs a proper home than a cardboard box. The design of the chicken coop itself needs to consider location, light, ventilation, functionality, disturbance to the neighbors, etc. Luckily my roommate is an architect, and he is very happy to put a lot of effort into designing and building the sweet home for our chicks! It is so joyful to see them settle and run in our backyard. =)
大家好，造園記系列稍事耽擱如今又回歸了正軌。由於小雞們長得出奇的快，於是把雞舍的建造提上了日程，雞舍的設計本身也有諸多考量，位置、光線、通風、功能性和對鄰居的干擾等等（好在都是母雞），經過了我與室友四版不同的設計（以及對小雞年幼時對植物破壞力的觀察），最後把雞舍佈置在了相對私密獨立的區域。我們在家的日子裡會把小母雞們放到後院跑跑，鬆鬆土，吃吃草，啄啄蟲，其樂融融。

I've raised many chickens in my childhood. If you want the chicks to follow you, you have to hatch them and raise them from the egg and they will follow you everywhere. They will imprint on you and think you are their mother. It's very cute. I remember coming home from school and they would get so excited to see me and all run to me.

That will work while they're babies, once they start laying will be getting a video of a walk inn coop build.. ps trust me you want to make it walk-inn.. save that one for when they get broody and what to raise their own babies, get them some fertilized eggs if you don't want a rooster.. the hens tend to be much happier with a rooster around..

請問咕咕雞的排泄物怎麼清理？還是你們每週換木屑呢？ 我有追蹤一個長期養鵝的朋友，前10個月領養一隻超爆笑、不準時咕咕叫的開光公雞(傳統廟宇要用的)，主人還做尿布給牠們(因為當寵物飼養)，滿有趣的！最近又撿到6隻奶貓，那隻開光雞頓時變成保姆雞，快逗樂大家~~

我们有用一些稻草做他们的bedding，然后每两周统一换一下，把他们收集起来做堆肥，大概几个月后就可以做植物肥料了～ 你朋友的地方好有趣啊，都市动物农场，感觉我们也可以往这个方向发展发展啦😉

不要散养，对花园的破坏力有点强😂 一不注意就去刨地 把植物啃光。不过之外还挺好养的，orpington的话你可以考虑 lavendar 或者blue orpinton

@@Anna-gh3dq how many eggs do you need ? For cuteness pets, silkies are wonderful, friendly, but not very bright. For personality friendliness and smarts, mini Cochins are my choice. I also have Orpingtons, Polish, Lakenvelder, and Spitzhaubens, which are one of my favorites, but you have to get them as babies and spend time with them every day , as they can become flighty when purchased as adults. Cheers, and have fun with whatever you decide to get.

That is a polycarbonate roof panel, we bought it from Home Depot, roughly $60 per panel I remember

It does, that’s why we decided to move the coop out from the central backyard garden, and only allow them to “free range” in a set area

No, it is the most easy pets to keep. What you need to care about is probably food, water, dry and clean home. Around 6-7 months starting eggs produce.

@@galastudio9 im indeed from indonesia . Well here they actually use cemani for spiritual purposes.. Either black or white magic.. Mostly for exorcism or offering..Well if you believe that kind of stuff, i saw how the elderly used it before tho.
