I was one of those for years that was taught and was teaching we are under grace. Then recently, Yeshua spoke to my spirit these Words, 'how do you plan to rule and reign with Me as a king and a priest if you don't know My judgements?' That question caught my attention real fast, because I knew His judgements were given in the Torah! I ran to look up the Torah reading for that week (I didn't practice weekly Torah reading), and He definitely made His point- it was "Shoftim"-Judges! For some reason it took the Holy Spirit of Yeshua to ask me that question before I understood why we read the Torah. Yeshua is so patient, He waited a long time before He confronted me with this issue. Though I am sure He had tried many times before, but I did not hear. I am forever grateful to Him in seeking me out that day to reveal the truth. Shalom

I battle this right now among my community. It is so drilled into modern "christianity" that Galatians says you will lose your salvation if you keep the law! Yet, out of the other side of their mouth, they will say that God does not change! It is frustrating. I keep praying they will sit with Galatians and maybe bring out their interlinear bible to pick it apart. Or, maybe listen to James. Help them, Yeshua, to see the truth!

This stuff is fantastically easy to understand. Unfortunately, people have been taught a lie for so long, that when the truth is presented to them it's so foreign and they see so few doing it that they flippantly reject it without truly studying the matter. Of course the Law, Torah is NOT done away with. The very definition of sin is the transgression of it.... Why Christians can't see that within the very heart of their doctrine is the biggest contradictory statement ever is mind-boggling. Most will say repent of your sins, yet they will never ever ever ever tell you the biblical definition of sin. Then after they say repent, then they say we're under grace you don't have to keep the Law. Amazing blindness and outright stupidity.

Acts 15:7 If Peter was supposed to preach the good news to the Gentiles why did Paul spread the Gospel himself to the Gentiles instead?
@eliyahministries
@eliyahministries 3 жыл бұрын
Peter was given the "keys," meaning that he would open the door to ministry toward the Jews (as he did in Acts 2), then the Gentiles in Acts 9 and 10. Matthew 16:18-19 - "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 "And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Just as there were others who also ministered to Jews, there were others who ministered to the Gentiles. Peter was given the key to lay a foundation for both ministries, and others built on it.

Paul was a Jew and remained a Jew and he keep the Law but he said that the Gentiles did not need to keep the law even Peter ate at the same table as the gentiles until he was enticed by the Jews until Paul set him straight even Abraham was justified by faith and not by the Law. What you are saying is Gentiles need to be circumcised keep dietary laws and keep sabbath.

How do you distinguish a prophet's words/writings, and, say Paul's, from the rabbis Talmud writings? Could not one argue (and do not some argue) that the Talmud is "divinely inspired", so it becomes something like prophecy, with similar authority, rather than just a bunch of legalistic nit picking as a way to apply 613 commandments to everyday living? And who and how were the texts of the New (and Old, for that matter) Testaments "chosen" by men to be the official canon of these sacred texts? Why are Paul's letters sacred but the apocrypha discarded? Who got to decide, and were they divinely inspired or just nit pickers like the writers of the Talmud? Thank you so much for these videos.
@eliyahministries
@eliyahministries 2 жыл бұрын
The Talmud is a collection of debates between Jewish leaders who call themselves "rabbis" that do not believe in the Messiah Yahushua. Yahushua warned us to beware of their doctrines. Matt. 16:6-12 - Then Yahushua said to them, "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees." 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "It is because we have taken no bread." 8 But Yahushua, being aware of it, said to them, "O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread? 9 "Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? 10 "Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up? 11 "How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread?-- but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." 12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Neither Paul or any other first century believer in Yahushua called themselves a "rabbi." For answers to your other questions, I would suggest you watch the video series called "The Reliability of Scripture" starting with Part 1 at eliyah.com/archives/the-reliability-of-scripture-part-1-evolution-vs-intelligent-design-2017/

@@eliyahministries Many thanks! I will continue my studies. Forgetting the Talmudic rabbis for a minute (though I am interested in how the Jews - and I am one - justify giving those debates any divine authority), I am also interested in who "chose" what scriptures or writings and gospels went into the Bible(s). Who said "This is divine and belongs in there, but this is not, so does not belong in there." I will view those videos you recommend, and I thank you very much for suggesting and producing them and all this content. If a murderer or rapist or liar or thief decides to believe in the Savior, should he continue breaking the law or should he show forth the fruits of repentance and cease from those sins? Obviously we are supposed to repent (Romans 2:4). This said, what are the things one must repent of doing? Traditional Christianity says one doesn't have to repent for violating other select commandments such as the commands to keep the 7th day Sabbath, or feasts, or to eat clean. They use Galatians to justify that belief, but this study will show otherwise. Please watch as we go through each verse of Galatians.

Torah is NOT the law. So right there you've got the cat by the tail. But the question is NOT whether you should keep the law or not, but what you accomplish by doing so. You see, the whole law is good and upholding the law is summarised in, "you are to love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and strength, and your neighbour as yourself." But if you do this to gain righteousness or salvation, you have immediately lost it. Why? Because you cannot uphold the law perfectly. This is why you need God's grace, which is imparted to you on the grounds of your faith and trust in Yeshua ha'Moshiach - apart from merit. He has paid the price in full, and you cannot add to it in the least. Not that you are then permitted to do anything you want with abandon, faith leads to action. To put it differently - salvation always leads to works, but works will never lead to salvation.
@eliyahministries
@eliyahministries Жыл бұрын
The Hebrew word "Torah" is translated "law" 219 times, so yes "Torah" is law. No cat or tail involved. You said that works do not save us, but Salvation leads to works. That's true, and keeping the commandments in the law are supposed to be the works. Every commandment in the law is instruction in how to love Yahweh our Father, and/or how to love our fellow man.
@deniss2
@deniss2 Жыл бұрын
@@eliyahministriesI'll try one more time... Torah is much more than the Law. It may generically be referred to as such, but the Jews know that it isn't a very accurate way of representing Torah. The question is, how far do you go in keeping the Law? Do you keep the Sabbath? So do I. Do you count your steps on Shabbat so as not to exceed the prescribed Shabbat journey? Do you move objects from one room to another in your house on Shabbat? Do you know that, if someone outside your house asks you for something on Shabbat, you are not allowed to put your hand outside and give it to them, but they are allowed to put their hand inside and take it from you? Do you only eat kosher foods? Do you separate knives and utensils used for dairy, vegetables and grains and meat? Do any of the meats you eat include dairy - even in the sauces? Do you ritually wash your hands before meals (this has nothing to do with cleanliness and does not involve soap, but has a very specific procedural requirement)? How do you treat your slaves? Are you allowed to sell your daughter? May you divorce your wife, and under what conditions? Do you forgive all debts in the year of jubilee and let the land lie fallow in shmittah years? Do you do animal sacrifices as thank and sin offerings, and are these sacrifices preformed by Levite priests? Do you dress in the morning by first putting on the left sock, then the right sock, then the left shoe, then the right shoe, then the the left lace and then the right lace? Do you circumcise babies on the eighth day? I'm only touching on some of the thousands of Pharisaic determinations. But if you break the least of these, you are guilty of breaking the whole law. It seems clear that keeping the Law is a heavy and unnecessary burden. I'm not saying that you should abandon the law and return to hedonism and Universal Unitarianism, but only that the Spirit of the law is what is important. That means loving God and your neighbour. When you break the law, as you most certainly will, you should repent and return to Yahweh, our Redeemer, and confess your sin and try again. Everyone breaks the law, even the great men of God in the Tanach were guilty of some heinous transgressions, but they repented and God testifies of them that they were men after His own heart. Their faith was reckoned to them as righteousness. Salvation leads to works, but works never lead to salvation.
@eliyahministries
@eliyahministries Жыл бұрын
It sounds to me like you are confusing "Torah" with "Talmud." "The Torah is the law of Yahweh (which includes all of scripture), but Talmud contains a bunch of traditions of men that are nowhere found in the Torah. The law of Yahweh says nothing about which sock you put on first, or separating utensils, or ritually washing your hands before meals (which Yahushua and the disciples did not practice), etc. Some of the things you mentioned are actually found in the Torah/law of Yahweh such as keeping the Sabbath, circumcising your son on the 8th day, and refraining from eating unclean animals. These aren't burdensome, because keeping Yahweh's commandments are, as John said, "not burdensome." 1 John 5:3 - For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. It's man's traditions and all of the extra junk that's burdensome. We aren't saved by how perfectly we have kept the commandments, but if we think that we can ignore His commandments, we don't really have a repentant heart. And if we don't have a repentant heart, woe is us: Romans 2:4-9 - Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of Elohim leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of Elohim, 6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds": 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness-- indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;

Maybe you can answer this. My Jewish friend asked why I needed a Messiah to forgive my sins aka Yeshua. When the OT says you are forgiven if you just repent he cited Ez 18 21 But if the wicked turns from all his sins that he has committed, and keeps all My statutes, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. He shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he has committed, they shall not be remembered against him. Because of his righteousness that he has done, he shall live. He also asked me why if Yeshua is a sin offering was he not burnt because sin offerings have to be burnt offerings. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

John Mal Ezekiel chapter 18 is very true for the time that Ezekiel was living. However, other prophets predicted that there would be a servant upon whom the "iniquity of us all" would be laid: Isaiah 53:6 - All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And Yahweh has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Once this prophecy was fulfilled, it is necessary that we all recognize and believe in Him. He is the one who makes forgiveness of sin possible, because "the iniquity of us all" was laid on Him. Just as it is important for us to believe that Moshe was the one who enabled us to hear Yahweh's words in the Torah, it is important for us to believe that Yahushua is the one enabled us to be forgiven of our sins. Thank You and Thank You again and again! I now know what I have to do. I must walk away thank you for the scripture from Hebrews! This is one of those people who believed and then did not. I kept arguing Isiah 52 and Zach 12-10 I could not understand how he buys into that being Israel but now I know. Thank you again!!! Shalom!

John Mal If I may add one thing to this question... I personally need Yeshua as the "light" to guide my steps into how and what is pleasing to our FATHER. For example: Moses said that we should not commit adultery. Many Rabbis give many different interpretations and understanding to many things in TORAH. Which is right? I say Yeshua the messiah is right!!! He said that even when I lust for another woman I have committed adultery already. Technically this shuts down any farther argument for polygamy >>IF

2717watt I agree with your sentiments regarding Yahushua being our only Rabbi. We are all brethren. His statements certainly have an impact on the Polygamy question, as the divorce/remarriage study at www.eliyah.com/family/divorceremarriage.html shows.

Playing devils advocate - you emphasized repentance and faith connecting it to Rev 14:12 ...keep commandments and faith in Yashua moving on to read Acts 15:1-2, "unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved" saying that circumcision is not required for salvation. Isn't that contradictory? Emphasizing "repentance (tied to keeping commandments) and faith in Yashua. I can hear the grace only advocates screaming foul. What are your thoughts?

Repentance is always needed. Romans 2:4-10 - do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of Elohim leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of Elohim, 6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds": 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness-- indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

How do you exegete that lawlessness includes the Torah laws? How do you come to that conclusion? You don't apply the word 'law' in proper context throughout your teaching.
@eliyahministries

Because the word "Torah" simply means "Law." It's a direct reference to the laws given through Moshe (Moses). The word traces back to the Greek word "Anomia." The strong's lexicon and other lexicons confirm it's referring to the Torah/Law.

@@eliyahministries True, Torah means law or instructions. But that does not mean that in a NT context you always have to substitute law with Torah - that would not be a fair assessment in my opinion.

Why not? It's just the Hebrew word commonly translated Nomos in Greek.

@@eliyahministries Anomos means to be without law, it does not mean without Torah.. that's my point.

Strong's Lexicon says it means "not subject to (the Jewish) law" Thayer's Lexicon says it means "destitute of (the Mosaic) law" The "a" part of "anomos" is just the negative particle of "nomos". The Septuagint (a 2200 year old translation of the Old Testament into Greek) has nomos for Torah 240 times. So it seems that both modern and ancient scholars would agree that it does mean "without Torah".
