They didn’t stay there like the Indians. So the Chinese naturally became wealthy. What the west thought, was this free market economy will make Chinese socialist party less popular and people will want more western democracy and this will lead to the collapse of the Chinese party. This is where they were dead wrong, the Chinese party was only taking time, once the nation was wealthy, then they start to hunt down all the corrupted officials who,were enjoying wealth during the development years and now they and put back social reforms. Their stand is that capitalist elite can’t have a higher power than than the state. The Chinese socialist party never strayed away from their objectives they just waited for,the right time. You need to put the money where the mouth is before you start talking. It’s No doubt highly unionist approach has its issue, current retrenchment loss of jobs worldwide show that, neither pure capitalism gives security. You always need a social net to help the disadvantaged to help to make them stand for themselves,

A self-sufficient economy is more sustainable than a globalized free market economy. Globalized economy is the main cause of uneven distribution of wealth and it is highly prone to collapse. If everyone had remained self-sufficient without greed the world would've been a much better calmer and practical place.

It’s a wishful thinking but self sufficient meaning you minimise import but honestly again which country wants to buy your produce if you don’t import from them. You need a win win situation. A trade is always about exchange of good and services based on the needs and demands. What you need is a a strong global economy with mutual understanding between trading partners. When your foreign policy is not mutually benefit to the rest of the world then definitely you will have to face consequence, now by and large most citizens don’t want to go to war or send their children to war. That’s why governments now depend on specialised private military to gain military advantages over the enemy. Previous wars has proven that the real looser is the citizen.
