I was born in Sparta, my parents and the majority of my family live in Galax and the surrounding areas. I have lived in Florida for many years but always consider Galax home and visit it quite often. I just got back to Florida from a 9 day visit in Galax. Thank you for doing this.

I love watching the videos and reading the comments about galax. My brother and I were both born and raised in tennessee but ALL of our family is from galax. We've spent our whole lives going back and forth. Mom and dad were both raised in galax. As members of our family pass away, they all go home to galax for their buriels. We still travel back and forth but it seems not as usual as we once did. My brother and I always call galax home because that's all we've ever heard it called. I adore the place and when my time comes, I too will be taken to Crooked Creek along with all of my kin. Great video. Made me super homesick.

I was born in southern West Virginia in the 70s and moved to North Carolina in the 80s as a child. We always made the trip up to West Virginia to see family multiple times a year back in the 80s n 90s. Galax was always a place on a sign on the interstate that I wondered what it was like

Ethan Riggins, indeed. As isolated as Galax may feel for those who grew up there, trust me when I say, it could be far worse. Embrace each day with a smile, new friend, for at a minimum that will encourage others to connect more readily and lessen those aforementioned feelings of isolation. Stay well!

When people ask you where your from and you tell them Galax, they're like where's that?, then you tell them it's the place where the world's largest and oldest Old Time Fiddler's Convention is held every year, and their like oh ok yeah I know where that is now.

Southern Gentlemen, me from Galax? Nah, but it is nearby, about 20 miles away. The small spit of earth I'm from, it's unknown to anyone outside of the few people who live here and adjoining communities. This region is a nice place, despite its socioeconomic issues.
