So sentence "Morituri Te Salutant" used here probably means that they are about to die in glory, fighting, becouse that is only sense of their lives. They are no longer humans, they can only feel pleasure when they are fighting. They are formaly dead from the moment of their recruitment (like on Fenris), so they have nothing to loose. They are about to die sooner or later, but they are, becouse they are made for war and only in death does duty end. They know that every battle can be their last, like every another day, so they are ready to die with sword/bolter in hand.

You see I've been cooking up a theory. Chaos doesn't play sides it's almost like it is a product of it's environment. Where the deep dark thoughts and dreams of humanity spawns a ton of daemons. Is it not possible for the un-educated masses of the Imperium, who never seeing a Space Marine themselves, to think and dream up projections of Astartes into the warp? I think the Legion are Imperial loyal daemons who were born from the thoughts and dreams of loyal Imperial citizens.
