One of my former phones went out a car window going along the highway at 80 or 90km/hr-- the phone was fine, and the case was only cracked. The problem with this drop test is... u dropped it after the ultra deep scratches which had weakened the phone... pretty bizarre mistake to make ...The phone has been dropped tested with the proper ways, and survived both times...
@CNET4 жыл бұрын
The tests were done with two different phones. You can watch Chris say it's a brand new phone and remove the plastic before he drops it.
@anthonysmall37174 жыл бұрын
Hmmmmm. Start with a practical test (keys in a purse etc) then go to dragging it across a tile back and forth.....,because...ya know...who doesn’t do that to their phone daily🤔🤔smh

Do yourself a favor and get a Spigen case. I just got one for my note, it fits like a glove. I had one on my S8+ for 3.5 years and never broke the screen after countless epic drops.

The Note 20 Ultra definitely still comes with a pre installed screen protector.

not in the US, Mr. Hassan. Nor does it come with a case, or headphones, in the US.

In Canada you get screen protector pre installed but I'm sure it isn't great. Replacing with a better one asap

Phonebuff did. Iphone was destroyed while note 20 ultra stayed intact after 10 1.5 meter drops

Thanks for this realistic drop test. Now I feel I should definitely apply screen protector to my Note 20 ultra.

I don't have a great deal of faith in this glass. I'm not sure if I got a defective unit but I got a hairline crack towards the top left of the screen by doing nothing more than inserting the memory card tray. The phone was never dropped or banged and I only had it for a week and a half. My friend reached out to me recently to tell me his phone, that has been in a full-protection case, also developed a crack on the screen without any impact that would cause a crack. I've had smart phones dating back to 2008 and I've never cracked a screen.

I don't think the tile test was fair if all you were trying to simulate was a drop. It looked like you applied a lot of pressure in that scraping. It wasn't really surprising that it didn't survive a 6ft drop unscathed. But I think it raises an important question: Why are we paying for Gorilla Glass Victus if it's going to shatter like it's Gorilla Glass 3? I mean, a lesser glass might not survive the pocket/purse test, but you could just ... not put the phone there, right? Or make sure there's nothing sharp or hard that could scratch the glass. The drop is the thing you can't control (without a case), so if it's not going to protect the whole phone from a reasonable drop, what's the point?

Dear phone companies please give up on edge screens. Just look at the edges of note 20 even it is the latest gorilla glass.
@breathtakingblue4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. These edge screens are naff. Stick to a flat screen...

Pretty impressed by that drop test screen facing down! If you use a flip case your screen would probaby sustain no damage at all. But.. As someone already commented "Glass is glass and glass can break". Thats the sad truth, theres no glass that wouldnt scratch or break. My old Nokia Lumia was supposed to have a scratch resistant unbreakable gorilla glass and guess what? It got scratched by my keys and also broke the first time i dropped it on the ground... Since then I have used a flip case to cover my phone.

I can't believe that they knew corning DROPPED phones on Sandpaper not rub the phone on sand paper of course sand paper is going to scratch it like it does to everything. Second in there iPhone 11 video they dropped it on a really really smooth surface with a special devise to drop the iPhone with And here they're just letting it go on a sidewalk and then you have phone buff which is actually a competent reviewer And know how to do a proper test by keeping constant variables im just saying in general if you want to do a test then atleast Do a proper test.

just bought the note 20 ultra used like new from eBay. It hasn't arrived yet. May I ask which screen protector you used? thanks!! New Samsung phones have a screen protector pre-applied, unfortunately, the one I bought from eBay doesn't have one. I would love to apply a tempered glass screen protector but it seems they don't work properly on curved screens.

No matter how Corning makes and put gen/version, we folks gotta blv that still is a glass and cracking depends on how it touches the ground.
