Galaxy painting step by step | in studio with Mark Waller

Learn how to paint a galaxy for beginners with Mark Waller. Using a small canvas and Atelier Free Flow artists acrylics, let Mark guide you through the steps to create this beautiful light filled galaxy in just 15 minutes! Materials used in this tutorial:
Stretched canvas (just use a student quality for practising) approximately 60cm x 40cm
Paint:
Atelier Free Flow Artists Acrylics:
Titanium White
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Pthalo Blue
Permanent Alizarine
Dioxazine Purple
Carbon Black
Atelier Universal Medium and Varnish (optional, for sealing at the end)
Brushes:
largish cheapish house painting brush approx 8cm across
smaller cheapish house painting brush 2.5cm across
12 Micador Flat 1600
Synthetic chisel (flat) brushes, old and beaten up. Approximate sizes 8 and 4.
Old rag for wiping off excess paint
Water Pot - large

That was great! Other then the ocean, space is another thing that I really want to paint...like that super famous image from the hubble scope...can't think of the name...anyways, I have done a bit in watercolor but have yet to get the nerve up for acrylics, but I am closer now :) thanks a bunch!!

Have a look at Mark's website for free and paid for tutorials. There are a few beach options. I recommend his paint recipes book since I got one for Christmas and it's worth every cent! All the best :-)

Thanks so much. It really depends on a few factors. Size is the main one. A painting that is 100cm x 100cm in that style sells for around $2,400 AUD.

Hey Mark I saved you another fairy. You make painting waves, water and the skies look so incredibly easy and inspiring. You mention some things in the video about the cosmos and stars that made me think. I thought perhaps I too can paint like you just with words using the same colors and technique. Fact or fiction: A Star is born every second, that's what they say. But rocks are dead stones. And won’t move until you pick it up to throw. Here’s the true test of man’s intelligence. Can rocks give birth to baby stones? Can sterile jewels produce tiny diamonds? You have seen big rocks, painted mountains, watched fallen stars and shiny ones. But never did you hear a rock cry to praise one name. But you will one day, if you keep believing baboons, explaining the evolution of mankind. I use to believe the same things, wondering where it all came from. Till I heard a true story of creation. How God created the heavens and the earth in six days and rested on the 7th. It is all there written in Genesis one and two. Now it makes sense, and I no longer listen to science lies on how rocks fell from the sky to make you and I the way we are. Is their life on the mars or venus? No, of course not, yet we as mortals want to shine as gods among the stars.
