Will check out will it work in oil too?
@michaelgoodwin5510 Жыл бұрын
I believe you could do it in oil, but use a black acrylic gesso canvas to begin with, then prime it with an additional layer of black acrylic gesso to fill in the white bits (or not, your choice). Once dry, proceed with the oils (thin layers so as to help the next layer adhere to the canvas). Remember the rule "fat over thin."

Just adding to the good advice you already got here. When it comes to oils you wanna generally work from light to dark and start with very little paint. You can always add more as you go BUT most mess up by starting with too much paint then you have a big blob of ugly colors that blended together. Start Small, go slow, don't eliminate all the dark, Blend softly AND have fun :)

When glazing and moving progressively from red to violet, do we wait for the paint to dry?
@WildCreates11 ай бұрын
You can do either or for different effects. - Dry will let you layer colors. - Semi wet will allow you to blend colors. I would layer at highlight points and blend at darker points.

I attempted to do this and i was a doing great until I had to start glazing. Mind you, I decided to use light blue and dark blue. I’m using the craft smart brand. I guess I didn’t wait for the paint to dry before starting the glazing. How much water do you suggest adding to the paint before glazing? Lol
@WildCreates Жыл бұрын
Hard to answer that because craft paint is generally cheap paint, which mean not much pigment in it. I would may think around 10% to 20% should be water. What I would do is make sure its dry before you put on the next layer and so a test on a section and see how it goes.
@nashvillepredsfan2562 Жыл бұрын
Did you allow the paint to dry between layers?
@WildCreates Жыл бұрын
The answer is yes and no. For certain layers that we wanted blended that was done with the paint still wet. For layers we wanted to build on top of we allowed it to dry. I hope that helps

Man, this is fantastic!!! An absolutely perfect nebula painting - I really do dig it! Thank you, Wild, for the tutorial!!! *Newbie Question:* _Once you start the painting, must you finish it before it dries, or can you return, say a couple of days later, to either finish it and/or work on it some more?_ Nobody really touches on this in any of the videos I've watched. Thanks,
@WildCreates5 ай бұрын
That's a great question for newbies. If you are painting with acrylics you will notice that some sections will start drying in like 5 to 10 mins ( totally normal ). If you don't have enough time to finish, find a good stopping point that will be easy to start from again. In the video, you will notice that I break the tutorial into chapters... any one of those chapters are a great stop and starting point. If you like this nebula you might enjoy the other ones we did too: - Purple Nebula: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6fWpo2kbcR-qpo - Blue Nebula: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5KrgoSlYrCol7c

sadly I have not really played around with that brand. The only advice I can give if you do it again... it take more time between each nebula/glazing layer. This will let the paint set up more and show more of the color. This will hopefully give you more of a visual on where you need to add more or less color.
