Galaxy S20 / S20+ : How to Make SD Card 'Default Storage Location for Camera Photos/Videos

In this video tutorial I show you how to make your micros SD Card (Max 1TB) the default storage location for camera photos and videos on the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 Plus & the S20 Ultra. Note that after you enable this then every photo or video you take will be saved to the sd card. All the old photos and videos will be on the phones memory but you can move them to your sd card if you wish.

It only works for photos. Videos are still being saved to the DCIM folder in Internal Storage on my Galaxy S20+

@@MeteorTribe it should go into your download folder, which is most likely set to internal storage. However, you can go to "Files" app, find the picture in your download folder, tap on the 3dots next to the image and select either "copy to SD card" or "move to SD card" whichever you prefer.

Just a quick note if not mentioned, not all video resolution modes you take a video clip in can be sent directly to the sd card unless you have a decent fast sd card, e.g the 16:9 UHD (60fps)3840x2160 or 16:9 (8k) this, will be saved to internal memory as its quicker, like I say unless your sd card is a decent fast one. You can easily transfer that video though to the sd card simply by using the 'my files app' on phone, going to internal storage,DCIM, camera, then select clip you took and hold finger on it then at bottom tap on move, then click to go back a few pages to SD card, tap on that then the DCIM then camera, and it'll transfer to sd card. Depending on how long which resolution you filmed in will depend how long it takes. Hope that helps. Thanks for info though. Cool video

I got an sandisk extreme certified for UHD 60 fps movie saving and the phone still save all video even lower resolution to internal memory..

@@zadarblack I've been filming videos at uhd 3840x2160 (60 fps) and they've been saved directly to my sd card, did you go to camera app, set it as if ya gonna take a video, tap on cog at top left scroll to bottom and change storage location to sd card. That's how I get it to save there. I don't bother with 8k video.

I had that card in the Samsung 360 camera I got with s7 edge that's how old it is and re formatted it to put in s20 plus so it was clean n empty

Nothing in the video or any comments have I read that share the same thing with my S20. Can't set default storage as the option just isn't there in the camera settings (yes, default camera). I also don't see the option to format the SD card or even 'Move to SD card' from the My Files app. Sure hope you can help. 😁

What about for applications from play store ? I can't find a way to set my sd card as default for apps.

Unfortunately not all apps can be saved or moved to an sd card so that's why it's not an option to have apps saved there automatically. Some apps can be transferred to the sd card e.g angry birds 2,to do this or check which apps can, go to settings cog scroll down to apps tap on an app then storage, and if that app can be moved to sd card it will say at the top 'storage used' and alongside it say 'internal shared storage' underneath is 'change' tap on that and click on sd card, then move. As I said before not all apps can be moved. Hope that helps ya.

No matter the SD card its will not save video to sd... tried with a Sandisk extreme ( certified for UHD 60 fps ) and its still won't work even in 1080p..

you can do so thanks to the folder "my files" then you select what you want to transfer to sd card and on the bottom left of your screen you will see a folder with an arrow to move your file. I don't know if it also works for apps. I hope it helps. have a nice day

If u set to sd card then after every vid photo goes to sd card. For the photos n vids already on phone memory u need transfer from phone memory to sd card.
