Reasons why not to buy the s20 ultra: Its expensive, one hand use forget it its to big, 100x optical zoom is useless, 12 GB ram is also enough, the camera bump is huge, its heavy and thick and therefore cant fit nice in your pocket.

Im getting the s20 plus 1- 12gb of ram on a phone is practically useless not going to use it unless you doing it on purpose 2- battery might be bigger but screen is bigger so pretty much the same 3- theres a 350€ price difference in my country for the 4g version and dont care about 5g anytime soon 4- the cameras arent that much different in quality to justify the price difference 5- screen size is too big on ultra for me just going to be an inconvenience for day to day use

The user doesn't really use the RAM on a computer but the computer uses it. I think that my first computer's hard drive was probably megabytes or kilobytes let alone whatever the tiny amount of memory was for the RAM. I've just realized that if you are saying that 12GB of the hard disk drive is too large than stating that 12GB RAM is too large is correct. But when you use an app (application) or programme if it is possible to place the entire app into the RAM then it is processed much faster. You can also sacrifice memory to create better photos and videos and also shorter response times.

Couldn't disagree more. I have pre ordered the S20+ 5G. Monthly contracts I looked at between the 2 were very different. I'm paying £45 per month. Most of the contracts I saw for the ultra were £60/£70 and even more. Also I dont like the bulk both thickness and weight and sticking out camera module. I dont need to zoom that much at the level of zoom no matter how good the camera it will be hard to get a shot that isn't grainy. Yes the ultra has a bigger battery but only by 500 mah and with all the extra stuff it's got going on it wont make much difference. Fast charging all well and good. But not something you wanna do all the time. No battery likes being all used up, quickly rammed full of juice and then all used up on a regular basis. With that kind of abuse I'd give the battery a life of 18 months before it really starts degrading. And finally the size. I'm coming from an S8 so even the S20+ is going to seem huge to me. I didnt wanna go any bigger. Just my opinion and might help others to make a more sensible choice. I did very nearly just go for the S20 but wanted to see what the TOF sensor is all about and I feel with the S20+ it's the best of both worlds. The happy medium. And despite this video the one I truly believe most people will actually go for. Although people with even more sense than me will just go with a awesome deal on a S10 lol

Oh and 108mp is fine if you wanna print your photos off and blow em up to display them on a billboard. But for your average person who is only really ever going to share photos via social media. No need for that much camera performance. And as for the memory. 12mb is already treble the amount of memory than my laptop has. No one will ever need 16mb ram in a phone. In the Netherlands the price difference between the Ultra and Plus is €250. For which you only get slightly better battery, a selfie cam I don't need that detailed and 100x zoom I'll never use + a screen that's far too big. The price difference between the normal S20 and the plus however is €100 but with the plus you get a better camera, better battery and I like the in between screen size + you'll get free samsung buds+ on the pre order which gives you a €70 benefit because the buds are €170. So no thank you, I'll definately go with the S20+ because I don't find the Ultra worth it and finde the S20 too flimsy.

The cameras are exactly the same on the S20 as they are on the S20+ except you get a TOF sensor that at this point in time does not do much. The battery life increase is not going to be that much considering the jump from 6.3” to 6.7” in screen size is much more than 6.7” to 6.9”. Which BTW the .2” difference between the S20+ and the S20 Ultra is hardly noticeable in the hand. The Galaxy Buds comes with any purchase not just the S20+. You have to get what works for you but I just wanted to bring you up on your awareness that there is more of a difference between the S20+ and S20 Ultra than there is with the S20 and S20+.

@@OT4Tech well I live here and the prices are higher than what this website of yours says unfortunately. De buds don't come with the S20 here only with the S20+ 5g and the S20 Ultra. The Ultra is too big for me and te S20 too small so it's a simple choice to go for the plus because I'll never use the Ultra's extra features plus I don't like the size. 😅 I would buy the normal S20 if I'd get the buds with that phone too but we don't unfortunately so that's why I'll buy the plus.

I mean if you're going to skip the S20+ and maybe consider the S20 Ultra, you might as well take it 1 step further and wait for the Note 20 Plus, right? 01. Price I think the $200 difference is smart. People are paying through their wireless provider so in this case, the S20 Ultra is a better deal. 02. Display The 6.9" display on the S20 Ultra is nice. Being a little thicker and heavier is fine. 03. Cameras Having better cameras on the S20 Ultra is a very appealing reason to go with that. 04. Battery S20+ 4500 mAh S20 Ultra 5000 mAh Yea. Definitely worth it. 05. More RAM The S20 Ultra being able to go up to 16 GB RAM is crazy. 512 GB micro SD cards are quite expensive. So a 1 TB micro SD card ... 😱 In regards to the bigger battery, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll have more use per charge. It's needed to support the bigger screen and the more power hungry components like more RAM. Anyway, this was great. I'm sure lots of people will find this useful. Personally though, I'm waiting for Apple to show us with their 2020 iPhone line up wil be. I'm hoping it's good enough this year so I can finally upgrade from iPhone 7 Plus.

I have already pre ordered S20+. In my country we can order only 4G variant (no 5G expected in the future till stardate 2595.26). However it is 390$ cheaper than ultra which is only available in 5G. This is big cost difference. Plus ultra is much heavier and bigger, hard to operate one-handed. I just wish that main wide camera on s20+ is 64 MP instead telephoto one. In this case it would be out of discussion which phone is better. But Samsung wanted to show off with their 100x (useless) zoom so they had to disable S20+ to be better and sell more. I liked more last year setup with S10 series than having this year's ultra brick (unless you need to defend yourself with it).

One moment, if you are correct it means that Samsung has deliberately prevented you from having S20 Ultra 5G, because Exynos 990-, and Qualcomm 865 (USA's market) both should have built-in 5G. I have the S20 Ultra and I love it. Latest software update fixed the camera 📷 and the battery issues, (I have the exynos version) but no complaints from me. Although it is expensive,like you said, when you get it on a contract you don't see the difference that much.

I hate the way camera module looks tho, imagine it with a case, a big chunk would be the camera. This alone rules out s20ultra for me. Note 10 plus has a great looking camera module but the specs on the s20 plus is far better and it is also prettier than the ultra. So upgrading from s8 plus, s20 plus is the way to go for me personally.

Hey Jon, thanks for the vid. I've stopped putting SD cards in my phone because they slow the phone down tremendously, the iops for the SD card can't compete with the internal storage iops. Do you think this 1800x SD card can keep up with the internal storage?

Internal storage is super fast since it uses UHS 3.0 however the 1800X is very fast and should be perfectly for nearly anything on mobile including the 8K video recording.

If you are in an office sitting at a desk think of the desk as being RAM. Think of a MicroSDXC card as being a filing cabinet in a corner of the room. It doesn't matter how fast you run to the filing cabinet and back to your desk if the relevant document is in front of you on your desk it will always be quicker for you to pick up the file on the desk rather than to run to the other side of the room to get the document from the filing cabinet. If you are noticing the speed then it also depends if your phone is set up correctly and for example what things you have running in the background. Have you also set your phones's animation to 0.5 ( I think it is to speed up your phone inside the developer's section)? It also depends on the read/write speed of your MicroSDXC's card and the speed of your phone and its graphics etcetera. That is what Samsung is hoping, paying $200 extra for a few better specs that probably cost Samsung $50 to make! A great way to profiteer, as like this influencer consumers will say it is only $200! Of course, if you prefer the bigger display it may be worth the extra, as it adds value to your user experience. The extra 500mAh will probably amount to little due to the bigger screen. So the only reason for me would be if that larger display was essential. If you want 16gb RAM you have to pay another $300. The extra camera features I can live without. Also if you have a high disposable income then $200 extra will mean less. Finally, I suspect that second-hand values will be better for the Ultra, so the actual net cost will be less than $200. Very subjective and either way I would not criticize.

If more pixels are used with the camera properly programmed than it would mean that we will have better photographs. If Samsung upgrades and solves the bug faults then even the 100 X zoom could be excellent. If Samsung solves the bug faults that would allow me to obtain excellent photographs then I would be satisfied. If you and others think that you can make an omelette without breaking eggs - it is actually impossible - Better photographs require larger sensors especially in the dark. How much extra would it cost to invent a lens that is completely flat, and how much would you and others would be willing to pay? This is because I think that the phone is too expensive already.

I agreed with what Jonathan Casey said. But before the lockdown in the UK a Samsung Technical person asked me why don't I just buy the Gallaxy Fold? I asked him what is the standard of the camera? - The hardware standard of the camera is useless for a 1,500 sterling pound camera. When some people including me are complaining about some of the S20 Ultra's photos that I have seen then the Folding's photo would definitely be far worst then the worst S20 Ultra's photos probably. I also stated that I don't trust the camera folding and that if Samsung had any faith in folding the camera they would give an indefinite warranty. The functions and features on the S20 Ultra should be far superior to those on the Folding camera.

As somebody that uses cameras every day I'll be passing on the ultra in favor of the plus. There's just no way that lacking dual pixel autofocus isn't a problem for the ultra. Also, the aperture seems a bit wide since they dropped dual aperture. I could be wrong about that last one though. The ultra is being advertised to grab people that don't understand how photography works.

I respectfully disagree. I also use cameras everyday and while the dual pixel auto focus is faster than the current state of this PDAF system, I believe it can improve quite a bit. I think many are forgetting that DPAF is a derivative of PDAF. There are many great systems that use PDAF such as Sony systems and Fujifilm which have excellent focusing. Fuji in fact, is a prime example of what firmware updates can do to improve focusing capabilities. The Ultra offers a very unique experience and IMO if you're serious about mobile photography its the one to get simply because of the flexibility and creative options that are available. I'll be doing a deep dive into the camera soon which will demo what I mean.

Idk man. The Ultra is nice, I can't deny that. But I'm going with the + personally. There's at least a $200 difference, and while they don't offer 4G models here in the states, I'd still like to be as mindful as I can about the price. Besides, they both share the same processor in whatever country you're in, the larger screen on the Ultra is not only going to be a bit unwieldy, but also a battery drainer. The camera seems to be about the only thing that justifies the difference really, and even then, 100x zoom is gonna be a bit overkill unless you're spying on your neighbor from a half mile over. 30x zoom comes with the + and is gonna be fine for the large majority of consumers. Unless you're a Samsung enthusiast, or just like to have the best of the best of the best regardless of the price, I wouldn't recommend getting the Ultra.

Nope, sorry, still don't agree. I think the S20 Ultra utilizes a crazy space zoom, but I'm never going to need to take a grainy pic a mile away. The cameras on the S20 Plus are beautiful. The Ultra uses a Samsung lens, but the S20 and S20 Plus use a magnificent Sony lens, and Sony just does it better. The battery life pretty much evens out. There isn't a huge difference especially considering the Ultra only has 500 extra mAh. That is not noticeable enough to pay an extra $200 regardless of monthly payment sizes. However, the main reason I think the S20 Plus is the perfect fit for me is the actual feel of those phones in my hands. I think the Ultra is extremely top-heavy and chunky. The S20 Plus is very well balanced and sleek-looking. It just feels better in the hand *insert Flossy Carter comment here*. But honestly, even though I prefer the S20 Plus over the Ultra, I still find myself reaching for my Galaxy Note 10 Plus way more than the S20. I prefer to watch videos on my Note and I prefer to play my games on my Note as well. The 120 Hz display on my S20 Plus is silky for sure, but there's just something about Samsung's latest installment in its Note line that keeps me coming back for more.

Therefore, the hardware arguable should be the best and if Samsung solves the bug faults the S20 Ultra should have the best camera. Some of your videos verified that some of the problems could be temporarily solved until Samsung implements the correct AI software to easily make it the best phone in 2020. Despite thinking that the 100x Super Zoom is useless (as I said to a saleswoman I don't want it to be one of the best, but for the price I want it to be the best for the price)! I have just realized that since it is possible to replace the operating system it definitely should be able to solve the bug faults. I can't remember whether it was the S10+ 5G or S10 Note 5G that created better photos than the S20 Ultra, but it should be possible to use the subroutines (section of the program that the S10+ 5G or S10 Note is superior input them into the S20 Ultra - Obviously improve the subroutines before updating the weaker section of the S20 Ultra.

I do not agree with this and would HIGHLY recommend that no one compare price based upon what you will pay per month. This is exactly the same method that car dealers use to rip you off and get you to buy a car that you cannot afford by making you focus on the monthly payment. The S20+ camera is not that different from the ultra and in my opinion holds its own just fine.

There is more to the Ultra than just the camera. Also, you can’t compare a $6-8 a month payment increase to a car payment. Most people finance their devices these days whether it’s from Samsung directly or through their carrier. If you honestly cannot afford to spend $6-8 more a month then you probably should not be buying a new phone right now. Like I said in the video, if you’re buying out right then going with the S20’s+ is understandable since it’s over $200 more out of your pocket at the time of purchase.

What he was saying was that the relative advantages of buying the S20 Ultra compared to the S20+ when the payments are spread over a period of time is worth it. My opinion is that if Samsung properly solves the bug faults then buying the S20 Ultra would be worth it. This is because I have seen numerous photographs and videos where I wish that the photos were taken with a better camera. If it is possible to create a library of 4K and 8K excellent videos, and also excellent photos then in 5 years to 10 years' time when I have an excellent 8K TV I would have excellent footage to watch. People like me prefer to base things on objective facts and not subjective or fake information. Obviously, if Samsung doesn't substantially improve the S20 Ultra then it will be the last Samsung and probably Android phone that I shall buy. It appears that this video will solve a number of problems that reviewers have been complaining about. This is despite that I would have to manually carry out the operations and functions rather than the functions being carried out automatically. But at least I know that the bugs can be solved manually. - Hopefully, Samsung will implement the process so that the camera will perform them automatically as a top professional photographer would do. - At the moment, one excellent reviewer compared the S20 Ultra with the iPhone 11 Pro max - probably virtually a draw.

More megapickles just does not equal more detail. Even at the pixel size, more megapickles does not mean you have more details. These are phone cameras, software is nigh *everything*. Maybe the day would come Samsung doesn't put a water paint filter over everything their sensor spits out, but for the moment you just slap Gcam on. Besides, what do you mean more detail when that phone can barely focus on the entirety of someone's face without being 20 feets out? Not sure why you would ever need that much RAM on a phone of this capability, and I am keeping desktop mode in mind here. Much like a lot of lower end AMD gpu's with a lot of VRAM on the desktop space, you're going to get trouble with the 865 chip way before you do the vram, and that is before the software somehow limits real world practicality of it. On a phone, you're just not going to have more than 2-3 application, splitscreen and maybe one on top as floaty pnp style. Maybe one in the background, say 7archiver. Even on desktop mode, I don't see it being useful, 12 or 16.

The majority of Android phones only get two operating system upgrades if they are lucky - After 2 or 3 years hackers in the past had no problems hacking Android phones without users being aware, slowing down their phones. Properly programming the Marshmallow 6.0.1 and subsequent operating systems would allow for example MicroSDXC Cardsstorage to improve security besides improving photos, videos, audio, graphics etcetera. Hence, more storage properly used can substantially improve all Android phones with MicroSDXC and the new standard MicroSDUC cards up to 128T - What I definitely don't understand is why the MicroSDXC Card category has been reduced from 4TB to 2TB. Probably the dumbest and most biased reasons ever froma reviewer. 5 reasons: 1. No one cares about the 100x zoom or SLIGHTLY better camera. 2. S20 Ultra is too heavy, thick, and the protruding camera hump can get damaged easily. 3. 0.2 inches is not even a noticeable difference. 4. 45 watt charging only charges 3-4% faster. I've had it on my note 10+ so I can confirm. 5. Although the battery is larger, so is the screen size, so the results will be similar if not equal battery life. Smh. Don't buy into this guys. This is because it is not always possible to be at the head of a crowd or be near a distant object to take an excellent photograph. Come on dude its 2020 specs are only 50% of the battle...I brought my brother the pixel 4 not the xl. And according to some one like you it a horrible phone. WRONG!!! He gets just as good battery like as my note 10+ if not better.

Specs are not everything, I never said they were. But based off of pricing in the US you’re getting a better phone for slightly more money and when breaking down the monthly payments the price is even less significant. I was able to use both devices on 2 separate occasions now and I have a device coming in this week so I’m basing my thoughts and opinions off of my experiences and short time using both phones. Also, comparing the Pixel 4 to the 4 XL is entirely different than comparing the S20+ to the S20 Ultra... Pixel 4 to 4 XL is like comparing S20 to S20+. Please do not put words in my mouth regarding what you think “some one like me” would say when you obviously don’t know me or viewed any of my other videos.

@@OT4Tech maybe not...let's take the front camera as an example. 40 mp vs 10mp. In daylight yes the ultra will be better, BUT in low light performance like restaurants and clubs I'm betting the s20 n s20+ will win that battle..even if the ultra has better software most likely it will be grainy....not to mention downscaling will occur on social media downloads.

If you compress a 40mp still image to 10mp you will actually get better low light results due to binning. The same thing happens with the 108mp camera. Also low light results come down to micron size and the micron size of both front cameras are exactly the same where as on the rear it’s 1.8 on the S20 vs 2.4 on the Ultra after the compression happens from 108mp to 12mp which the phone does automatically.

In our country, s20 doesnt offer free galaxy buds+ so if i buy the s20+ that comes with a galaxy buds+ its the same price when buying an s20 and a galaxy buds+ so yeah ill go with the s20+. Btw the difference of ultra and plus in our country is almost 300usd. 🤣🤣🤣

Hopefully, the specifications for the S20 5G, S20+ 5G, and S20 Ultra 5G are the same in any country in the world: www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/compare/ Despite, that the promotions are different, for example, recently heard that Samsung USA is giving its customers a 50% discount if they exchange their S20 Ultra within 2 years. But in the UK Samsung UK, we can't get the Samsung USA's promotion - I know how you feel. What I have never understood is why doesn't Samsung automatically place the new earbuds+ into the box with each new S20 Ultra, for example. I received that must be the first generation, old, earbuds inside the box with the S20 Ultra - I shall probably never use. Once I set-up my S20 Ultra I then have to enrol to the member's app to receive, the latest, 2nd generation earbuds+, earphones = £159 sterling that I shall ner use - Would have preferred to have a reduction in the price of £159 or upgraded free to the 512 GB black version. But another blunder (extremely stupid) mistake is that Samsung made was that they didn't produce enough S20 Ultra grey 512GB versions and even worst probably didn't produce any S20, black 512GB version - Price for the 512GB is too high. Part exchange probably only applies to Samsung's phones otherwise receive peanuts. It also appears that the USA gets the superior Qualcomm 865 processor chip compared to all other countries that get the inferior Exynos 990 processor chip - rip-off! Another blunder is that the free promotional earbuds+ only comes in white and cannot be swopped for black ones - useless management. Camera at launch has far too many bug faults - Calling 100x zoom Super Zoom - It's a fiasco! I have got no sympathy for Samsung who is now complaining that their profits are too low - serves them right! Before I forget, do you actually get the latest wireless earebuds+ with the S20 Ultra, or do you get the wired AKG earbuds or the wired AKG earphones? Since I processed the pre-order before midnight on the 8th March 2020 I shall be able to get the free promotional latest earbuds+ wireless earphones = £159 sterling that I shall get despite probably never use them, because I should be able to get better audio using my Bose QC Noise Cancelling earphones in noisy environments. In England, the UK, the difference is £200 sterling.
