Unfortunately I had to return it, my S21 keeps overheating, I can't live with a phone that closes down apps when it heats up, especially in the middle of a Teams meeting.

The plastic back is an UPGRADE over the outdated glass backs of the past! It's lighter, flexible, durable and much easier and less costly to replace if damaged vs. a glass back. All of that makes plastic the superior material for the backs of smartphones.

Right?!?!?!?! People only thing glass is "premium" because phone manufacturers tell us that glass is the better material. They make tons of money on charging up the rear to replace the back glass If it cracks. It's super light too. Ask your self this. Does anyone sit there and look at the back of their phone or throw it in a case? Lol

I prefer the plastic back. Always thought that glass was a wonky material choice for a phone back! Slippery, fingerprint magnet, and brittle. The only advantage is a minor amount of heat transfer. Like most owners, I put mine in a case anyway, so it's a moot point for me.

I love the design of the S21 and S21+ due to the flat display. I still love my S21U, but I'd really enjoy an S21U with the S21U cameras and flat display, with a size between the S21 and S21+

I have an S21. At first, with 5G on, the battery was terrible and heated no matter what. After the update and after it adapted to my use, I'm ending the day with 50% with moderate use and heating happens when I stream or play a game which stinks because I watch shows on my phone. This happens even with 5G off. Photos seem kind of soft but I can live with it. Phone calls, as you said are superb. It's a great phone but for $800 I expected better. Im coming from Note 9. I would have kept it but the last update messed up my battery and couldn't hold charge. Note 9 was an awesome phone. The best phone Samsung ever made.

Yeah, the 9 series both note and S were the bests they've ever made. No compromises, just top notch in every aspect. I'm getting an s21+ very soon, would you say that your phone heats up more than the usual while playing or watching shows? Every phone I've ever had heated up doing those things.

got mine a couple days ago. mine was heating up like crazy today using gmaps navi. Come from a note10+ exy and that thing never heated up. Note10+ is the best phone ive ever had but wanted a smaller package. I hope this super hot to the touch situation is just because its new and learning.

Optician here: The back isn't just plastic; it's polycarbonate! The exact same material that the lenses in safety glasses and kids glasses are made out of. It's lightweight and scratch/ impact resistant. You still get wireless charging too if that's your jam. You could go caseless and be absolutely fine tbh.

I upgraded from a s8 to the s21 a month ago. Liked android 9 better and the fingerprint reader on back of the s8 worked way better.

There's a hidden option via ADB which let you change the display mode like old Samsung phones. I did that with my S20 FE.

Glass may "look" and "feel" more premium but I prefer plastic because it is more practical (lighter weight and less fragile).

I have the S21 Exynos chip and a 100% charge only lasts me 4 hours with moderate usage. I kind of regret getting this phone instead of the s21+ which has a slightly bigger battery. It also overheats a lot even after watching a couple of KZbin videos. I hope samsung releases an update that fixes this battery issue with their exynos version.

I get 5-6 with all power settings on but with power savings mode I get 7--9. Check out mophie snap + juice pack mini. It doubles the battery it just came out I have one

I had mine 3 day I message Samsung and told them I want to return it, they offered me 50% off to keep it and I said no, put the headphone jack stoooopid, I have dt990 that I use religiously with my phone, also the dongles will not power my rode video micro or my mke 600 so my audio on streams a d video calls is Samsung mic quality garbage, so far I am doing fine with the Google pixel.

SD cards are outdated because of free or cheap cloud storage. You can also store your data on hard drives, etc. The SD card is much slower than internal storage. For just $50 more, you can buy an S21 with 256 GB of internal storage. By eliminating the SD card, Samsung freed up internal space for other more important things like ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, etc.

@@tanzanable SD cards are not outdated, as dedicated cameras and video cameras all use them. They are more than fast enough to store Photos and videos, which is what they're meant for. Cloud storage is all very well, but it can be a bottleneck if you're trying to backup large video files. It's also inefficient to stream video, when you could play it from the SD card without buffering.
