A very minor detail i noticed, is that on the at&t (the "simple" one) the capacitive buttons are still obvious even when they are not lit. On the edge, they are hidden, which is better for me. Other than this little thing, i believe they are so well designed, and in a very smart way. Galaxy s6 seems to have everything i need in a smartphone. Excellent review Erica. As always.

I'm looking forward to Part 2 of this review. But honestly, I'm relying that internals of the regular S6 and the S6 Active model are simular enough that these reviews will cover all I need to know about the Active. The S6 is stunning but all that glass makes me nervous. Plus the Active has that insane uber-battery that will easily get me through the day and then some. I can live without the finger scanner. I'd be great if Erica reviewed the Active but I think these thorough S6 reviews will cover the bulk of what I need to know.

I liked the video simply for you mentioning the app closing that the S6 has been doing. The funny thing is that I just received 5.1.1 on my T-Mobile S5 and as long as you don't use the stock Samsung browser multitasking is fantastic.

Just FYI (for the adventurous): The XDA developers have fixed the memory leak/multitasking issues, and it's been solved for weeks now. I actually find it quite funny how the hobbyist tinkerers working for pretty much free and just for fun, have fixed what giant Samsung can't seem to lol. Erica Griffin Maybe give the fixed roms a try if you get a chance, but I don't imagine you have a whole lot of time for such things these days.

The aggressive app killing really shows itself when playing audio or video in the background. If these apps get killed, not only does the media stop, but it's reset back to the point where it was the last time the app was in the foreground. Most apparent when listening to podcasts while getting directions from Maps. I have to keep my player open in a split view

***** Memory leak is a software flaw precisely due to Android lollipop . All devices running on lollipop have this memory leak including the nexus line so an update should fix this problem 😉

***** I'm in the same boat as you. I was doing some research and the music/podcast shut down is due to another memory issue called Colorfade. If you are brave enough to root your phone, there is a fix for that on XDA. I myself am still on the fence about the S6, its a good phone but with some annoying flaws

One thing i noticed when comparing my S6 with my Nexus 5 is that TW still isn't anywhere near as smooth as stock Android, despite running on such powerful hardware. There were noticeably more dropped frames during animations/scrolling on the S6 than on my N5. For example, just scrolling down my Google+/Instagram feeds was noticeably smoother on my N5. I've dropped my Note 4 corner ahead in escalator, face flat down on a supermarket floor and asphalt... There's not even a scratch on the screen! Just a tiny bruce in the bottom right corner, which you can't even notice. Of course it depends on the phone you get and the angle, but either have I been really lucky or this is just very durable for its size and design!

Erica I religiously watch your videos, always awesome watching and learning...I use what I learn when I'm at work (Verizon wireless). Thank you. consumers need to know that there's only two phones that don't lag more and more over time... nexus and iPhone. forget the g4 and s6... the cameras on the iPhone and nexus are good enough to get the job done....my TV remote is more responsive on the channel guide than 75% of 8 month old Samsung flagships. "turn off my magazine animations transition effect background data factory data reset blah blah," Samsung is garbage. Ask anyone that works in mobile retail.

Great video. I'm kind of disappointed in the S6, because it has a non removable battery, and no expandable memory. No expandable memory; no sale. I really like the 60fps on this video. It is cool how you go further in depth than anyone else. I like the display a lot. It has a great positive, and a great negative. The positive to the Quad HD Display is how beautiful it looks. The negative is it eats up the battery. I love the Super AMOLED Screen. In my opinion, Super AMOLED is the best type of screen for a Smartphone. Super AMOLED is what HD should look like. I was wondering something. Obviously, the Quad HD Display on the Note 4 eats up the battery quite a bit. There is a 10,000MAh Extended Life Battery for it made by Zero Lemon. Have you ever made a video on one of those type of battery and cases? I don't know if I should get one for my Note 4, or not.

Actually, the aggressiveness of shutting down apps is a smart ploy, given that chrome and games take % of ram and especially if all chrome tabs are being into a deep sleep state it will save a huge chunk of the ram. With the Exynos opening apps is fast and snappy so it shouldn't be a problem to wait 1 or 2 seconds. What I see from the benchmarks is that the Adreno is more than capable on a 1080p might be even more powerful than the Mali and this is why Apple's Dual Arm Customs Cores will be more powerful than the octa ot deca or what ever latin number they give it.

Thank you so much for calling out the aggressive memory management. That gets glossed over way too often and it drove me to the G4. It's much more than a mild annoyance to me. The phone would perform practically the same with 1GB of RAM. Why even bother giving it 3GB?

I have the S6 Edge AT&T variant. I also experience low signal reception. I actuality contacted at&t 3 times about it. Each time they told me that this is a non issue on the s6 (my wife had the s6 regular) they ended up sending me replacements for both mine and my wife's. Same issue. Sent back replacement an kept the new phones I had od for vs the Refurbs they sent.

Aww man the reloading app problem is happening with the s6. I mean it's nice that the processor is good to quickly reload the app, but this shouldn't happen in 2015. Hopefully it can be fixed with a software update. Reminds me of my old HTC One X that couldn't multitask lol, and an software update didn't fix it so I'm kind of worried here

I had a HTC One m7 and at times thought it felt a little slippery. Instead of updating to m9 I got a s6. In my opinion the s6 is even more slippery and with glass definitely needs a case. I never used car with m7 bit I feel as if the s6 with scratch or break without one. People said m8 was slippery but I can't imagine any phone being more slippery than this s6. The antennae works better on HTC phones and the Ram management on s6 is appalling. Comes with 3 gig but 2 is already gone on system and apps and I'm forever getting alerts to boost ram. Speaker is ordinary and display is good but not that much better than hd. I have no complaints about battery as I'm not a heavy user. HTC dropped the ball in design and Camera. I always wondered what samsung phones are like and this is apparently their best but I like the way HTC phones work and hope they get back in the game.

I never used case with m7 and I hate having to use one with s6. But what choice do I have... This is such a precious device and I don't Trust glass no matter what gorilla glass says. My main gripe is the call quality is pretty poor compared to m7.

callmemarc That is an issue with the lights and the white balance. Some displays end up looking quite red or blue as the white balance is not set for them.

I saw the display model of the edge at my local Verizon and it was burned in like crazy. I mean beyond what I would ever think possible, especially since the release was not that long ago. I mean we aren't talking years here. Have you noticed any burn in on any of your models?

Note edge vs S6 edge Which is more unique/different/weird looking/head turner In india both of them are costing me the same I am a note user hence am attracted more towards the edge and its heftier curve that it has Just wondering if this is the ryt time to upgrade to the note edge or is it tht s6 edge is a safer upgrade considering long term use ability Should i just wait for the note 5 and the s6 edge plus but then they will be costing a hell lot more initially and by the time the price drops dt wld easily take 4 months frm now.
