This video shows the teardown of the New Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Android Smart Phone. It shows how to remove the back glass panel and dissemble the phone using a heat gun and pry tools.
Replacing the Galaxy S7 Charging port is not easy, but I explain what needs to be done if there are no other options. Make sure that your charging port is not clogged by dust or lint before opening up your phone.
A battery replacement, camera replacement, or back glass replacement is probably going to be the easiest repairs for this device.

Also, you would still be allowed to call it a liquid cooling system because the gas would need condense into a liquid for the copper wick inside the device to function correctly. The gas would heat up, condense around the wick, travel through the wick into a cooler part of the phone (assuming) and turn back into a gas and distribute evenly in the tube again when cool.

That's not how condensation works. It's the other way around. The gas condenses in the cool area turning into a liquid which travels to the hot area and evaporates into gas which condenses in the cool area and so forth. This phone has a glorified heatsink, no actual liquid cooling unless liquid is present inside the pipe.

It is still copper it will transfer heat just fine it just won't be as efficient as it possibly could be and might throttle under gaming or prolonged heavy use, not even necessarily Netflix or something like that but more intense

no liquid once you sliced the heat pipe open does not mean the chemical inside does not form liquid when it is sealed in. maybe the chemical has a very high saturated vapour pressure or the heat pipe is actually pressurized inside. either way, the chemical vapourises very quickly so you would not see any liquid, which is actually a good thing. because that is how the chemical quickly brings out the heat, by vapourising.

The Galaxy S7 Edge cooler is a vapor chamber heat sink. It is the same used in most of the desktop to cool the cpu. The vapor chamber heat sink have cooper piper with a refrigerant inside(but they can add a second liquid to increase conductivity and reduce the "gas bubbles" at the processor side). The refrigerant is one or a mix of those who are on this list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_refrigerants The refrigerant is inside the cooper piper at high pressure, and exist at 2 phases that are mixed: liquid and gas. The quantity of liquid and gas is always the same. If you open the pipe, the refrigerant pressure become the ambient pressure, 1 bar, and it cool down for a short time. But then it become gas when is rising the temperature to the room temperature (about 20ºC). To dissipate the heat, the cooper conduct the heat from the processor to the refrigerant inside the pipes. Then a portion of the refrigerant that is at liquid, absorb the heat, change to gas and escape to one of the different side of the pipe. Then the gas conduct the heat to that wall and next the heat is conducted from the pipe wall to outside. At the same time a molecule change from liquid to gas, another molecule inside the pipe change from gas to liquid.

Nice video! It's really bad that the charging port is almost impossible to replace. I managed to damage the port on my Galaxy S4 and am glad that it's cheap and easy to replace it myself: And maybe there is a little bit of liquid inside the heatpipe, if it has a low surface tension it might just be wicked into the thin copper wires. Maybe it is some kind of hydrocarbon with a higher vapor pressure than water and low surfece tension. Technically, a heatpipe needs liquid inside: At the heat source (CPU) the liquid starts to evaporate, and the vapor spreads through the heatpipe. At cooler parts (where the heatsink is placed) the vapor starts to condensate, and the again liquid medium is wicked back to the heat source by the copper wires. Also, the condensating vapor locally reduces pressure in the pipe and therefore pulls more vapor to the cooled part. Furthermore, it takes a LOT of energy to evaporate a liquid, and the same amount of energy is released when the vapor condensates. Just to tell some numbers: It takes 4.2 joules of energy to heat one milliliter of water by one degree celsius. So heating one milliliter from 0°C to 100°C requires 420 joules. Turning one milliliter of water at 100°C temperature into steam of 100°C temperature requires a whopping 2257 joules. This is also the reason why boiling down water while cooking takes so long. As far as I know, the thermal conductivity of a heatpipe is about 1000 times better than the conductivity of a identically-sized rod of copper. That's pretty incredible! Without a liquid, there would be just gas somehow circulating around in the pipe. Unless there are fans inside (lol...) I guess this "heatpipe" would have a worse thermal conductivity than a piece of copper with the same size.

The heat pipe definitely does contain a liquid and that liquid is probably water. And it will be operating at below atmospheric pressure in order to lower the boiling point of water. The way heat pipes work is that the liquid evaporates at the hot end, gets transported to the cold end in gas form and then at the cold end the gas condenses back into a liquid and that liquid is transported back to the hot end by a wick (surface tension does the job). You won't see the water. The small amount needed will be wetting the surfaces inside the heat pipe and most of it will be wetting the wick. Heat pipes cannot work without constant liquid/gas interchange so its pretty fair to call them liquid cooling, though I prefer phase change cooling. By cutting open the heat pipe you destroy it. The small amount of water that was in there will most likely end up hanging around inside the phone and eventually it will escape because the phone isn't sealed. The heat pipe itself will still contribute somewhat to cooling (because it can conduct heat). However if you pushed the phone hard it will either overheat and become unstable or protect itself by slowing down the CPU. I'm not sure what this particular phone does.

Dear Jerry, Did enjoy video made a few notes on the same ....however I recently cracked my front screen. The phone works amazing well no flickering of the screen. My worry is if given for replacement will affect the water resistance. And whether it be same like before ? Well alot of doubt and questions on the same....

Hey Jerry! Thats a real nice video there. Had a quick question.. My Charging port & audio jack stopped working and the service guy at Samsung says the screen needs to be replaced. Is it okay? And after its been serviced at an authorised service centre, do i need to worry about the waterproofing on the phone?

Hi, I watched your video on you-tube and was amazed. Thank you for publishing " Galaxy S7 Edge screen replacement - charging Port repair - Battery fix" Just seeing if you have any ideas as to what my problem could be. My phone which is about a year old just died, It was being used for messaging with about 60% battery life when it died suddenly screen black but no lights on anywhere. Put it on charge and nothing happened, tried attaching it through USB to computer still no sign of life. Tried another Samsung charger and again nothing. All chargers and ports work with other products. Tried following sequence of switching on and resets but nothing. What does that sound like to you a connection is defective or a diode or something has blown or burnt out. I find it strange as the battery had life but obviously have lost connection to the battery.
