I have a fold and I was worried about the line in the middle of the screen. But depending on the angle and light you don't notice it, and even when you notice the line, it doesn't bother as you think it would. It's just amazing.

I just pre-ordered a flip 5 because it was at a major discount that made it cheaper than a lot of other phones, but I'm definitely really worried about it's lifetime, since I always expect my phones to live up to 3 years. I'm still VERY worried about that lmao, I'm a big phone dropper.. but I'm hopeful the new gen can last about 2 years-ish!!

I bought a Flip 4 and started using it yesterday. So far I really, really like it! You're probably too young to remember pre-smartphone flip phones, but I really miss the convenience of having one of those. While this phone is understandably much larger and heavier than those phones, the ability to fold it up and put it in my purse, sling or back pocket is wonderful. However, as you pointed out the phone is very smooth to the touch, which made me very nervous, so I immediately ordered and installed Samsung's clear plastic case with a ring holder. I don't know how well it or the phone would hold up if I drop it because the case is hard plastic but for the time being it's providing some peace of mind.

Have the z flip 4 bespoke edition and personally love this phone. Fits in my everyday use and runs on oneui which i am very familiar with. But been pretty good with it taking care of it. Took a 2 year insurance plan on it but. Love this phone. And got it in colors i wanted ^-^

Update: Now there are dead pixels near the fold creating a black spot. I'm trading it in for the new S24+. I've had the phone for a year and it's very good. Recently I've noticed the crease in the screen has small micro scratches or creases? Not sure how to describe it. The crease is not smooth like when new. I am not a heavy phone user so my opening/closing is minimal, especially with the small outer screen. My only complaint so far is that.

Nice! I'd say it depends on what you use your iPad for. If it's something that can only be done on an iPad (FaceTime, procreate, etc) then I'd say stick with the ipad

It would be soooo much better if the spring popped it open and snapped it shut like the original flip phones. It either takes two hands or a thumb war to open it. It needs the spring assist. It misses the biggest draw of the flip - opening and closing one handed with the satisfying snap. To replicate that it takes a whole snap of the wrist now which is more fanfare than i need when checking my phone.

LOVE the Flip 4 phones, but like Daniel said....DON'T DROP IT!!!!! You will have issues with the hinge in the corner breaking, the top or bottom half of the screen will become unresponsive, then the entire screen will eventually go black. I had so many problems after I dropped my Flip 4 and had to get it replaced. Also, make sure you have insurance on the phone.

For a long time I prefer XCover line, starting with XCover 2. Now I have XCover 5 for 2 years already. And the camera failed. Z Flip could be a great alternative to XCover 7 that is the most recent for now. Although I am a bit worried about it's safety as I used to have unbreakable phone :) Since early 2000th I liked flipped phones but never had one. Thank you for the overview, really helpful!

I have the flip 4 now almost 2 years, the falling yes it happens and yes the phone broke 2 times. Also I worked at the beach, so there was sand in it. Still I just love the phone, I will get a new phone from the insurance as it broke again. So definetly have insurance or a samsung store nearby ;) Overall I am still the only one with this phone in my surroundings, so it gives me a bit of special feeling to. I loved it fits my pocket and it doesn't fall out like other phones. My friends are losing there phones all the time, you can't lose this one it is just fits so well in your pocket. I don't think I will buy a new version, just keep this one and if it brakes again then I will take another "normal" one. I don't like the huge phones, I always had the mini S versions of Samsung, so it depends also what kind of phones are coming. Thank you for the video, loved it!

I think an important thing to mention also although it folds its sort of thick folded. Especially with a case. So if you have this in your pocket, along with a wallet its definitely taking up pocket space as opposed to just a slab phone.

It won't shatter into a million pieces if that's what you're asking. The back is glass so it may crack, but the hinge and inner screen will be safe no matter what. Ideally you'd have a case though. I always have a case on my phones, I just don't show it in the videos. I say wait for the flip 5 if you can. That big screen is gonna be really dope, and the durability will be even better than the flip 4.

People are saying that after a while the scratch guard or temper will come off by creating a lot of bubbles which may lead to display issue and the screen goes unresponsive after some months of buying. Hi, so my flip 4 display has stopped working after a year, and just a week after the warranty got over. I am currently using it as a non-flip phone. Do u have any idea how long I could continue using it like this (I cannot close flip as the display does not come on and the phone has to be restarted). After a year the factory issued screen protector has pulled away from the screen, cracked, collects dirt, ruins the image on the screen and makes shooter/aiming games impossible to play because my finger no longer touches the dip in the screen. So yes the folding phone is a problem.

@obamabinbiden9762 after 3 weeks I can tell you it's performing pretty well. The cameras are really good. I work with social media and they gave me what it needed. Battery is not enough for a full day of usage, but it's fine. And the phone feels good. It's only my mind that keeps telling me something's gonna happen lol. But I can assure you one thing: Foldables are not meant to last 4 years. Not if you regularly use them. Maybe 2 years.

@@DanielsTechStudio fair enough question. The other reasons are the hinge is super fragile and poorly designed, The processor is slowed down by all the bloated software. And simply did not have enough programs to utilize the front display and last not everyone buys a phone for specs sometimes people prefer a rugged design. I am an outdoor type of person and within my thought process I was thinking phone would be more rugged and more protection if it folded? but I was let down because phone is fragile and you have to be very careful or it will break easy in my experience.

I think the flip 5 will have a much more useful front screen (like the moto razr+), but it's still a folding phone and inherently won't be up to the rugged task. Thanks for sharing. I love that the front screen is small. I have a flip3 btw. I don't want to see everything all the time. Just need to see the time, skip to the next song and see my daily steps. I love that I can close it when using my earphones. It can fall a million times and the main screen is never damaged. I always have a cover. I love how I can just put it up somewhere half folded and it doesn't fall. I use it to put on mascara on the train or calling while on the couch without needing a phone standard to put it in. I just wish the camera would get as good as other cameras.

And I love the video but I want to correct you if I may. Everything you need to use the phone you don't need to flip it. You can make calls from the screen check the time messages etc . That little screen is very help GG ul

They make really sturdy cases for it. At least if you drop you'll never crack your screen, just the back lol

Yeah I'd recommend for a college student. Just make sure you have a sturdy case if you're gonna be outside all day.
